I heard "Total Eclipse of the Heart" for the first time in the TV series The Vampire Diaries. When I first listened to it, the song seemed scary to me, but then I liked this song very much, especially Bonnie Tyler's performance was fascinating.

It topped the UK Singles Chart and became the fifth best-selling single in the United Kingdom in 1983. Additionally, the single topped the charts in the United States for four weeks. "Total Eclipse of the Heart" became Tyler's biggest career hit.

It reached number 1 in Canada, New Zealand, Norway and South Africa the same year. Along with chart success, the song also racked up impressive sales numbers, selling more than 6 million copies worldwide.It went gold in Portugal, Germany and France, and platinum in the United States, England, Italy, Denmark and Canada. In Australia, it was awarded a 4x Platinum award. Additionally, Total Eclipse of the Heart was voted by the British public as the nation's third favorite 1980s number one in a 2015 poll for ITV.
