Neuroscientists have succeeded in recreating Pink Floyd's song 'Another Brick in the Wall, Part 1' using artificial intelligence to decipher the electrical activity of the brain. The reconstructed song 'Another Brick in the Wall' represents an invention that could restore the musicality of natural speech to patients with disabling neurological conditions. Today's news published by Euronews caught my attention and I wanted to share it with you, I recommend you to read the whole news from its source. I will only briefly mention it in my article.
Scientists reconstructed the song from brainwaves recorded while patients undergoing epilepsy surgery listened to song 'Another Brick in the Wall'. Also, this is the first study. Also, this study was done by researchers at the University of California, Berkeley (USA). If you want to see the whole research, click here.
Abstract : We analyzed a unique intracranial electroencephalography (iEEG) dataset of 29 patients who listened to a Pink Floyd song and applied a stimulus reconstruction approach previously used in the speech domain. We successfully reconstructed a recognizable song from direct neural recordings and quantified the impact of different factors on decoding accuracy. Combining encoding and decoding analyses, we found a right-hemisphere dominance for music perception with a primary role of the superior temporal gyrus (STG), evidenced a new STG subregion tuned to musical rhythm, and defined an anterior–posterior STG organization exhibiting sustained and onset responses to musical elements. Our findings show the feasibility of applying predictive modeling on short datasets acquired in single patients, paving the way for adding musical elements to brain–computer interface (BCI) applications.
“We had a wonderful result,” says one of the researchers, Robert T. Knight.
"One of the things for me about music is it has prosody and emotional content. As this whole field of brain machine interfaces progresses, this gives you a way to add musicality to future brain implants for people who need it, someone who's got ALS or some other disabling neurological or developmental disorder compromising speech output. It gives you an ability to decode not only the linguistic content, but some of the prosodic content of speech, some of the affect. I think that's what we've really begun to crack the code on."

Pink Floyd is an English rock band formed in London in 1965. Pink Floyd is a legendary band with some great songs that never get old. My college friend was a fan of Pink Floyd and had almost all of their albums, and I watched the whole concert in the above video in 1994 thanks to her.
Another Brick In The Wall (Part 1)
You can listen to the original of Another Brick In The Wall (Part 1) after 36 seconds and AI generated after 57 seconds. “It sounds a bit like they’re speaking underwater, but it’s our first shot at this,” said Robert Knight of the AI-generated song.
Frankly, I like this kind of research, I think they should use the power of technology and music to the fullest and I believe they will find results that will be good for many patients. I think music is the best way to communicate with one's soul and brain.
