The level of discrimination that we experienced during the lockdowns were a blend of subtle and extreme.
People's FEAR overwhelmed any opportunity of navigating a reasonable way through.
All I asked for was Informed Consent.
I did my research and decided that I was comfortable with my immune system taking care of things.
I also did research to decide that I was NOT comfortable with participating in the Government sponsored options.
The fact that we were all caught flat footed meant that the scramble to try and consolidate a cohesive response led to an array of responses.
It became apparent to me that the media was going to ostracise the community. Any person being critical of the narrative was quickly labelled as an extremist.
The My Place group started asking questions about many of the top tier Government programs. Some I can relate to. Some I cannot.
That is fine. Expressing opinions is something I am all for.
Myself, I feel comfortable with the approach that Vic West has created in my area. They are focused on creating community and accepting all people.
That fits my focus. I just want to get on with doing productive things.
I seldom engage with people socially.
I don't want to be part of committees and groups.
But I respect those that do enjoy those things. It takes time and commitment.
To side track further, I got into Table Tennis back when I was 16.
I was explaining to my kids that it all started with an advert in the local paper looking for players.
The Table Tennis club was run by 2 old Polish men. They had access to teh community centre and 1 table.
I played for 8 years. During that time it expanded to a second hall that could accommodate 8 tables. We entered local tournaments.
Then it expanded to a large recreation hall at my high school.
The Polish man, Adem, was able to negotiate a great rental rate due to providing activities for local youth.
At that point, we had a committee and a bank account. We were running two sessions. One, for younger players after school. Another, for the more serious playing business, including, local Tourneys.
After my Youth, I became a corporate guy. I forgot about the community place.
The lockdowns has reawakened my interest. Especially, the online communities connected to Hive.
Anyway, the CLO video is about a regional area's pathway through the discrimination and lockdowns.
