"Mississippi is one step closer to legalizing medical marijuana" - 16 WAPT News Jackson
Mississippi has enough signatures for a medical cannabis measure on the ballot this November. If passed in November, people with a need for medical cannabis can see a doctor to get a prescription for a qualifying ailment, then they would have access to cannabis. The Mississippi department of heath would regulate the growing, processing, and monitoring of "treatment centers". Unfortunately Gov. Phil Bryant is apposed to medical cannabis, and the department of health expresses worry of adverse effects of cannabis - it would be nice to see the same scrutiny for prescription drugs. Senator Horn recognizes the citizens desire around the country to see cannabis legalized. A long road to recreational cannabis in Mississippi, hopefully in November some with the need for medical cannabis can find some relief.
