Banisteriopsis caapi, also known as Jagube, liana, Mariri, Yagé or Caapi, is a vine native to the Amazon region, it has its greatest importance in religious use. Together with the Psychotria viridis shrub known as Chacrona, the species is raw material in the production of a drink known by at least eighty different names, such as, for example, nixi honi xuma (by the tribe of the huni kui), Yagé , Kamarampi, Caapi, Natema, Pindé, Kahi, Mihi, Dápa, Nixi pae, Cipó dos Espíritos, Santo Daime, Vegetal, Hoasca, Oaska or more commonly Ayahuasca.
