What's good Weed Nerds? Hope you all had a great Halloween. Mine lasted all Weekend, and gave me a break from the Internet, which is always nice as a reset. Friday Night I was able to get in the tent, and make some adjustments, plus inspect for sex, and do a little bit of training. So far only a couple are showing some sex parts, and belive it or not it is one I suspected, and is in one of the smaller pots.
It is one of the Big Mack Superstar's. The other one is once of the SD X SC crosses. So hopefully more males will begin to present themselves, and I can start culling them to clear up space in the tent.
Now that I have some decent growth, it is time to begin training. I like to Supper Crop to get multiple tops. Supper Cropping is a technique that is considered a form of 'High Stress Training'. It involves you slightly breaking the stem, in order to manipulate it, and allow some of the bottom growth to become top growth.
Step 1
Step 2
Step 3
Step 4, Optional
This will give me 8 colas. But I will still have to bend some more as more growth appears. Also snap on more of these Supper Croppers, which you can get here. You can repeat the process over, and over to give you even more tops! I love these clips, and highly recommend them to everyone who grows. Only thing to watch out for, is if you leave them on, the plant will snap these in half. It's just shows you how strong plants can be. Oh yeah, another thing to watch out for, is that this gets addicting! You will want to find as many spots as you can to slide these suckers on. But just be carful, you will end up with even more tops;)
Another thing you can do is to cut some of the leaves off. Especially the ones blocking growth. What I do sometimes is just tuck the leaf away so the bottom growth gets light. Eventually I will cut it off, but I try to go as long as possible, if I am able to. The leaves that end up pointing towards the soil will get the axe first.
My plants get so wet when I get down, and dirty with them. Do not be afraid, they will treat you good, if you treat them well ;)
One more thing in regards to super cropping. If your branch breaks, don't worry. You can either tape it with a band aid, or in a case like the La Kush Cake above. The plant will heal itself. But once you get the hang of it, you will be a pro. Or if you find a male in your garden, and are able to hang on to it. You can practice on it. That way you will not have the fear of ruining your precious females. But if you get the clips, it makes your job a whole lot easier. In fact you usually do not have to pinch, and snap the stem. But IMO it does make it easier to slip them on.
