Is this mic on?
Well, it's been quite a while that I've been posting under the tag #ttt ever since I saw the post by and I got to know the pioneer
.
I've gotten some snazzy upvotes, lovely musical recommendations and I like to think I've brought some amazing tunes here too.
Today although, I think this would be the best 3 tunes I've brought in my history here.
Today I bring you the pioneer of our musical roots from my country.
This artist is ome that is well known worldwide and is like a sacred herald in the African musical industry, heck he's a national gem.
The Elvis Presley of Nigeria, and as Elvis has his beautiful gelled hair and snazzy leather clothes, he has his shirtless body decorated with chalk and his iconic jazz saxophone 🎷.
Some guided folks already know who I'm talking about and has gotten their earpiece/airpods/headphones ready for the songs.
Well I guess it's time I introduce him clearly...😃
Ladies and Gentlemen
Today I bring to you a legendary figure
Please get your ears and dance shoes ready
Cause we have in our midst today
The father of #afrobeat music..
The one and only...
FELA KUTI !!!
Image created by me using Canva
🎷
For those who may not know who this huge figure in the music industry is, I would give us just a brief history lesson..
FELA!!!/ Fela Aníkúlápó Kuti/ Fela Kuti/ Abami Eda/ The sexy mad raving Yoruba musical demon (whatever you choose to call him) was a Nigerian songwriter, composer, bandleader, instrumentalist and pretty much everything that has to do with music.
His songs are well known for their, 6+ mins intros, lovely beat and vibe, simple yet powerful lyrics and catchy hooks.
He sang about plenty things but later on in life focused on the socio political aspect of things, criticizing the then Nigerian government and getting a lot of backlash from it.
He created the now popular African genre Afrobeat, from a mixture of Nigerian (Yoruba) music with American Jazz, Salsa and other musical constituents...
Marrying 24 wives, owning a night club, battling the government and traveling around the world for tours and shows he lived a full life. (For more info click the face blowing the sax 🎷~(´ε` )
Regardless of his action packed draining life cause I'm sure 24 women would surely drain you, if the government wouldn't, he had a great discography, with musical hits that I'm going to share with you today...
Water No Get Enemy 🌊🚫
In this track, Fela talks about the most used element.💦
How it is needed and used for everything despite whatever bad memory you might have from it.
You'll still use it 😃😂
Lady
In this track, he talks about he's understanding of the two terms 'lady' and 'woman'.
A lot of things said here that would literally kill gender equality fanatic's 😂 and all those stuff.
Regardless it's a fun song 〜(꒪꒳꒪)〜
Coffin For Head Of State ⚰️🥀
This track is one that's my all time favorite.
Serving as a tribute to his mother and a lyrical attack to the government that killed his mother, Fela calls them out, expressing his sorrow, grief and pain using music 🎼
That's all from me for today, a little bit under the weather hence my lack of engagement lately but I just had to post this...♪ヽ(・ˇ∀ˇ・ゞ)
