I have been working in Logistics Customer Service Department for six years. Last year, I got the opportunity as CS manager and I grabbed it without a second thought. It was a difficult decision as all of my friends and well-wishers were against this decision to join a growing company and resigning from a well-known and branded company. Well, I want to explore and give myself a little more space to think and apply new things for a new company from what I have learnt in my tenure.
I quickly adjusted myself in new environment and started enjoying working in there. New colleagues were helpful and nice. Things are still under process and SOPs are to be formed and implemented. Everyone is trying best to improve and make company to progress on the right side.
My CEO is a very nice and polite young man who never use bossy attitude with the employees and always welcome new ideas and strategies for the improvement. Most of the departmental heads were new so, in Feb of this year, he arranged a ManCom meeting at his beach house.
It was the first time I heard of that word “ManCom” so, I Googled it through which I come to know that it is Management Committee meeting which discuss and point out the loop holes and for their solutions. We were informed to be punctual on first Friday of Feb and all the managers along with CEO will drive together to the beach house. Agenda was provided to each of us for the discussion and presentations were prepared with the pointers, solutions and suggestions. I did my part and prepared myself for the meeting.
We moved on Friday morning in three cars. I was with IT head, discussing all about it on our way to beach house. In took us an hour or so to reach there. It was an excellent place to hang out. Everyone got busy in taking selfies and pictures. Me too just did few clicks then relaxed on the chair. It was a nice plan to go far away from work environment to a fresh one where we can think and speak in a better way. The idea was to spend some time engaging and knowing each other having a healthy discussion. The views and amazing atmosphere was really making me feel awesome and freshness was all over the place.
We started with one on one meeting with the CEO, just a recap of what is required in the whole discussion. There were 10 managers so it took him two hours to meet each of us individually. Then around 1:30, we all went to nearby mosque for Friday prayers. The actual ManCom starts around 2:30. HR took a lot of time as there were many serious questions from all the departments and she was answering them one by one. Few people were dragging the topics so in the end Boss intercepted the lengthy talks and asked to be very specific. I was sure that this is going to a big and very lengthy meeting. My number didn’t came but lunch arrived at 16:00 so we had a lunch break. It was organized by the secretary of CEO. Meal was fantastic with variety of dishes.
All above pictures are captured by me through my cell phone ITEL A25.
After a lunch break, we continued the meeting. Honestly, we didn’t noticed when it turned dark outside. I was the second last to start my presentation. Luckily, no one had anything to question me except the CEO himself who asked me few things about my progress and conclusions. Everything was already mentioned in my presentation so I took only half an hour to share my thoughts and suggestions. I think by that time, most of them were already tired and want to end this ASAP. At around 21:00, we ended up the discussions and returned.
Overall, it was a nice experience of ManCom, enjoying sea view in a meeting. Click here to check company's post on FB. In my opinion, such meetings help to clear confusions between managers which are useless and gives a new vision to the company to make new goals and achieve them within defined timelines. We all were provided with some reports and points to follow for next six months then to have another ManCom. I am already working on it and trying my best to improve things for the betterment of the company. Cheers!!!
