Stop the press and roll the papers, Thursdays are for Rants is back! In this week's entry we are going to take a break from the water issues and take a leap of faith into the depths of Venezuelan Economy.
You know pretend like there's an economy and it works...
But this would be my posts of I didn't adress the issues of water. So, there's been many complains and even protests around town. The Governor has finally given a press conference. Here, he said that the problem with water is natural. Like the whole dirt on water is some nature did. That was his statement. I wish this this were a joke. But what could we expect by a guy who made his campaign by cringe on TikTok.
I can't even say something about it. So, I'll let it go in one statement:
When dumb people are in charge of things, it is only natural that shit hits the fan.
Moving on to more pressing matters, remember I said teacher where paid on full their vacation bonuses? Well, that came back to bit us in the rear.

Well, that escalated quickly. Any time the government pulls something like the payment they made last week, there's a recession in the economy. The price of the dollar goes way up and we cannot grasp the damage that this does to the economy. Prices will gallop up.
This is why we can't even save money on fiat. My HBD are all my backup money. Well, that passport is looking like the best way to get out of this crazy place. Remember, there says 8,80 bolivares. However, I need to remind you that the current regime has thrown some makeup to the currency. 14 zeros have been removed from the currency. So it is 8,80 x 100,000,000,000,000. That's the real number. Do the math. The result is a mess.
This hurts everyone badly. Businesses will feel the weight of such a recession. Small business will suffer the most. The problem is that while the black market price has gone this way up, the value dictated by the Central Bank of Venezuela is 6,28. Not only that. The government is enforcing this fixed value. There are fines of around 8 years of jail for anyone who goes against the will of the iron fist.
I would like to point out that there are some problems this imbeciles want to hide. There's a plane being held in Argentina. They say this thing is supposed to be a relief plane. Something use to buy vaccines and other medical supplies. But it was bought from Iran. This purchase was sanctioned by the US. And now the plane is detained as well as the crew. I bet there's more to the international issue. Venezuela is always buying stuff in shady businesses. Who knows what's the plan for the plane. The US has an eye on the things the government fools do. And they love make a show oit of anything.
For the moment, we are not even close to Halloween and the first jumpscare of the year came like a wrecking ball. I thought the dollar would reach 10 by December. I'm not so sure now. It might be more. That's going to hamper a lot of business for my trade which is already pretty hard to do. Oh, well it isn't like this country always finds ways to tell you to stop and reconsider what you're doing.
It gets old pretty fast. I would love to miss all the Venezuelan charm by being stuck in the countryside in Switzerland or Austria. Where my only troubles would be to herd the sheep, light the fire and do my work in piece.
But lo, I'm still here. There's a long way to thread before going out of Wonderland and tomorrow is another day to work towards the future. And I'm going to work my way to reach my goals. And I'm going to complain while I do it. Because there's nothing else to do when your leaders are such exemplary morons!
As a side note, a lot of the problems that have been caused by these pages that monitor the back market dollar would have been avoided of people didn't pay attention to it. However, the problem is way deeper than that. The economy is destroyed. I read this year that some economist made the prediction that Venezuela would see the highest economic growth in the region this year. I have only one question about this. Where can I get some of what these economists are having? With such a drug, I could live happily and say dumb shit like that like there's no tomorrow.
