Today I’m going to go off a bit on the internet searches.
Dangerously Powerful
The internet has revolutionized the way we do things in the world nowadays there’s no doubt about that! We can communicate with people instantly from different parts of the world. When we were in Italy I FaceTimed my family back in America. How incredible is that? A one or two second delay but essentially instant visual communication.
I’m also able to connect with and talk to lots of awesome people throughout the world here on hive, which wouldn’t be possible without the webs!
With great power comes great responsibility though, pardon the cheesey quote.
One of the other things that makes it very powerful is that you can search any information you can imagine. It’s getting censored a lot nowadays but you get the point. What’s the worst though, is when you are having some issues with your health. Searching the information on that stuff is handy and good to have and know but fuck is it scary to look at. I’m not going into detail too much here but when you have some symptoms and look up possible causes, it can ruin your day. I’ve thankfully been established at my doctors office and had some tests done that have turned out well but some things remain and trying to get down to the nitty gritty of it is challenging. On one hand I’m assuming I have an idea of what is going on but there’s always that little asshole devils advocate in the back of your mind.. what if you’re wrong? What if that thing you’re feeling, combined with this other thing turns out to be something that is guaranteed fatal? No if’s ands or buts about it, it is fatal. That shit has been driving me nuts this weekend and off and on this year.. Booking another visit with my doctor to have the conversation to throw that on the table. I don’t want to bullshit myself into thinking it’s one thing when it’s actually something quite different and worse. I’m lucky and fortunate enough to have great insurance because I’m sure it’s going to cost some money, though not much out of our pocket. I think we are holding off on the cross country move out of caution, I don’t want to leave my secure job to start another one only to get sick or debilitated a few weeks or months in and get fired.
