Hi fellow Hiveians,
Today I wanted to write about something that I've been meaning to for a while: this crazy parking garage experience we had!
Sketchy Parking Garage
Traveling is one of those things that we love to do, but we keep it mostly local. For this trip though, we drove many hundreds of miles to a destination quite a ways away, for various reasons both vacation related as well as other informational ways like scouting neighborhoods for a house.
We had to stop on the drive home, and damn was it a sketchy freaking experience LOL.
We tried to drive straight through, from our destination all the way to home. It was a daunting task but we were going to try. We didn't make it and that was okay, we were a couple hours away but the challenge was the time of day that we were forced to stop. It was pretty late at night and we decided that it would be best if we got a hotel, we weren't going to be able to drive another three or four hours to our house without it being dangerous and likely getting into a car accident. It was a great call, because when we got to the room we realized how freaking exhausted we were lol.
That was not before we experienced one of the sketchiest things we've had, and we've had quite a few LOL. We rented a hotel room at a place, it was in a pretty big metropolitan area and it was a 24 hour hotel which is why we chose it. We made sure to check the crime in the area and all that, this one seemed like it was acceptable for us to stop for the night. We got to the hotel, my wife went to check in and it was all set. I dropped her and my son off at the lobby, they went up and I had to go park the car and figure out where I could do it. This is where the craziness started hahaha.
We've never really had to park in a place where the garage was separate from the hotel. I think it's because we generally stay away from large metropolitan areas when we are booking accommodations but this one wasn't an ideal scenario, so we just went with it. I had to drive a good 75 seconds away from the hotel to get to the garage and that was flag number one. I wasn't really happy about that but we were desperate for some sleep, me especially since I was driving lol. I get into the garage and I go down, and down, and down some more. I was 5 levels below street level! I was like wow what the fuck, this is pretty crazy.
To make matters worse, the place was also DESERTED. There was nobody around, a couple cars for sure but the really sketchy thing is that there weren't many people at all. This gigantic garage, all empty and shit but what was the worst, you can't really see it in this picture but there was fucking fog at the back! It was such a big place, and empty of cars, that there was it's own freaking climate inside hahaha. I am not normally one to be nervous in these situations because I'm a guy and one that's in decent shape, which would hopefully deter someone from trying something, but I was pretty nervous at this disaster of a scenario lol.
I had to walk back up the 5 floors, because I sure as shit wasn't taking an elevator in this abyss, and I was carrying the basic luggage that we had that had the valuable stuff in it. The rest of it would suffer in the car for all I cared haha but I also was pretty nervous someone would break into my car so I ended up going back down and checking on it a bit later.
The fact that we had to park in this garage at like 2 in the morning, it was nearly empty and it had it's own fucking fog really threw me for a loop hahaha. I know we will plan better next time so we don't have to stay in this horrible hotel but damn this was an experience to say the least!
