Right now I have to take charge of a dragon. I am sitting in front of the laptop, trying to help my daughter to set up a blog communicating on WhatsApp. Mostly she is smarter than I am. When it comes to blogs and things the like she lacks experience. That's putting it lightly.
She wants to start a blog to use it to market the babies and toddlers section of their brand new online shop. If they could promote the shop, they can start digging themselves out of the financial chasm Covid opened up under their feet. It could work. With care and attention, she'll probably be better than me.
I agreed, figuring we would turn on Google remote Desktop and I would guide events on WhatsApp call. Like life ever works the way you planned. Off the bat she couldn't get Google remote Desktop to work.
Gone are the dream of me watching the screen and saying, 'scroll up, click this, write that.'
She got it figured out eventually. It took a lot of voice notes and cellphone photos of the screen with a 'what do I do now'caption. We did it though.
With a theme I don't think will ever work for a moms and babies blog and a lot of settings and add-on's not yet connected; she is now the proud owner of her first piece of online real-estate.
I had to tread lightly part of the way to not damage her enthusiasm or play down her efforts. She has a long way to go. I took to typing rather than using voicemail at some point so she couldn't hear me grind my teeth.
She made me proud though.
That's how life works. I'll take the afternoon as a class on dealing with customers with less than average experience. Starting next year I'll be helping others setting up blogs and getting their businesses online. That's the dream.
Thank you for reading my post. I just had to tell it all.
