After that unending stressful an disrupted weekend early in March I had to calm down and regroup. No use in being disappointed in myself and carrying it with me.
I realized that most of what I planned was about what I planned and what I thought word be good. Most of my frustration was about me not being able to do what I wanted. Then God slapped me with an insight.
Simplify
Just that one notion,let go of all of the wonderful things I am planning and break down the business to its simplest form. Simplify.
I stripped down my ideas to three components;
- Product
- Customer
- Sales
No fancy ways or plans for anything.
The product is simply Teaching Self Defense classes to women. Easy and simple to describe, with a very big market locally.
Now came the customer part. I need to find enough customers to make this viable.I usually want to start doing business immediately. This time I simply started looking for interested people.
I started asking the ladies in the area I work if they would be interested in doing self defense classes. I listened to what they told me, then I started a WhatsApp group. I added everyone who said they would like to get into something like that to the group.
I still had no venue but I had faith. I prayed a lot.
I never stressed about a venue starting out. Some of my potential customers said they would be willing to do it in one of the parks in the area.Then someone mentioned Christian Brothers Center on Paradyskloof road. I acted on a hunch and got a deal where I paid entry per person. Parking, toilets and privacy made it worth the money. Now I had a date for the first class too. The first weekend in April, the Saturday.
I had two more weeks to grow the membership.
Two more weeks until the first full class.The membership is steadily growing and the opportunities are coming in.
And so starts the history of WSDC. May God bless us all.
