Some sad news has been making the rounds around here: a terrible incident happened in Ogbomosho, and a mathematics teacher was beheaded even though he pleaded. Students, teachers, and the principal were taken from school in broad daylight, not on a battlefield. I mean, from their classrooms, the response from the government was to continue their primary election. No official statement. They continued doing everything else like the lives of those people never mattered.
I am yet to understand that clearly. Because a man who dedicated his life and career to teaching students mathematics was killed in cold blood while the government somewhere was calculating their primary votes. These two things just happened like four days ago under the same government of this country that has been collecting taxes and promised security.
I do not think this is failure because they never tried. What has been happening around us and what recently happened in Oyo State is not happening in response to something totally different. It is wickedness dressed in agbada. And I am sure that some people in power know about this because it is an agreement between some of them that some people's lives never mattered.
Students, principals, and teachers are obviously part of those people whose lives need urgency and who are below the threshold. And that is why they are not moved or bothered about their disappearance or death.
Those students that were kidnapped, their parents are waiting for them. Those teachers too, they have loved ones waiting for them. And the silence of this government only means one thing. They don't care about us. Because if they cared, things wouldn't be this way.
Thank you for reading.
