In all honesty, it's disheartening watching and reading about what happened to verydarkman, the man who has, through the years, become a voice for the voiceless, not just in Nigeria but also in its neighboring countries, and yet he was arrested since Friday in such a disgraceful manner. The way he was whisked was a disgrace to our law enforcement agency and our so-called democracy.

If we didn't know better or later found out where he was taken to, we would have thought he was kidnapped by criminals. I mean, who arrests someone without a warrant, blindfolds them, and beats them up to gain access to their phone if not criminals? And yet, when it was later discovered that he was arrested by the EFCC, to this day there isn't any official statement regarding why he was arrested. It's a shame that such an important figure to the common man would be picked up in broad daylight like he's a threat to national security.
Today is Sunday, and yet there's still no valid explanation as to why he's being detained. The closest we had to an explanation was what I read in his lawyer's official statement regarding his arrest, which was the fact that his arrest is related to cyberstalking, but then it even makes it more crazy and ridiculous to then hear.

I mean, even if he were to be arrested for such, shouldn't the police be the ones to apprehend him for that? Or how is cyberstalking related to the Economic and Financial Crime Commission department? Aren't they supposed to be using their resources to arrest people who commit offenses related to financial crime, fraud, and the like? It kind of shows how some of these agencies seem to have lost their priority. I really hope VeryDarkMan would be released or let his offense be made known to the general public.
Martins Vincent Otse, better known as Verydarkman, was arrested while leaving the GTBank, where he had gone to complain and rectify issues relating to how the bank had been debiting his mom for a loan she didn't take, while a lot of people had allegedly said the bank had a hand in how he was adopted by the EFCC and would close their account in solidarity with Verydarkman.

I don't really think the bank has any choice but to play along if any law enforcement agency reaches out to them regarding someone they want to arrest, and because of that I won't be joining others to do that, but overall what matters is that he's released or charged to court, rather than being held in detention for over 48 hours now, without any statement regarding his offense.
I know verydarkblackman may not be on the good side of everyone, especially those who he has called out for their bad deeds or friends to those people, but then we can all agree that he's a blessing to the common man, a voice to the voiceless, and someone who has the love of the country at heart, from building and renovating schools to giving water to communities that don't have such to fighting for people who have been cheated by rich or powerful people in society. While he may not have the best approach with his speeches, we must commend him for getting the job done and being bold enough to speak what manner dare not out of fear.
With recent happenings, including his arrest, now I'm afraid if this is the price of being a patriot or speaking out, I think everyone should be worried, because if this gets pushed under the carpet, then no one is safe. I respect VDM's gut and stand with him for being consistent, and I hope he'll be released. Our law enforcement agency needs to do better, and it's my prayer that ultimately Nigeria will work and be better.
