'Broke artist' or 'Broke art ist'?
If you're German, or possess some knowledge of the German Language, you might read the last part as 'ist', the third person singular of the verb 'sein' ( to be ). Therefore, you might read 'is' instead of 'ist'.
Broke art is.
If you don't speak German but you know English ( like the majority on here ), you will probably read broke artist ( your mind connecting the last two words and making them a single word ). Or you might automatically change the word ist into is, leaving out the last letter.
The latter is probably more likely, if you don't consider yourself much of a creative.
Then again, you might not be a creative, nor an artist, but still buy into the belief that many artists are pretty broke ( something that has held me back from pursuing my art and creativity, as a career, for a long, long time. Eventhough creating art was the stuff that instantly made me feel good, when I actually focused on it.
Now I could easily make this a long philosophical debate - after all, my alter-ego is a philosoraptor - but I'll end it here, for today.
It is something for you to ponder on, though
That is, if you feel like it ;<)
In Other Words: What did you read in the title of this write up and what might that tell you about your beliefs around art and artists?
P.S. About an hour ago, I coincidentally shove my box of soft pastels off the edge of the couch. They dropped on the stone floor. When I picked up the box, the above arrangement was what I discovered. In fact, they are still positioned that way ( unless they are alive ), while I'm typing this.
This happening inspired me to write this post.
That is my opinion on what broke(n) art is(t)
hahaha!
