I don't remember the last time I didn't blog for 10 days. It might actually have been in my early Steemit days, before November 2017. That month I really went for it, trying to see what daily blogging would bring me.
In all honesty, I wasn't writing a book or working on a film project, back then. I wasn't working a job either.
no film project or job now either but I am working on a book
In case you wondered whether I have been experiencing writer's block, as of late: no, it wasn't that.
In fact, after writing my last entry here Unblocking the Stuffed Turkey, the writing seemed to come to me again. That is, for a couple of days and then I ran out of energy, in many different ways - both literally and figuratively.
- changing weather, with loads of rain, thunder and lighting moved my energy levels and mood like a ride on a rollercoaster.
- my neighbors, who were so kind to lend me a solar powered battery ( to charge my laptop and phone with ) in the last month and a half or so, needed that machine for a week or so. So I literally experienced hours and days without electricity and hardly had enough battery power to use my laptop.
FYI: I have been living without electricity, since I moved in to my current place ( at the start of May ). The solar system - and only power source for this house - hasn't been working since ( before ) my arrival. New batteries have been ordered but it took over a month for them to arrive.
Yesterday, my energy came back to me in many ways:
- I received an electric bike from my neighbor ( the one that lend me the solar powered battery charger )
- that same neighbor - who is quite the handyman - discovered that my gas boiler wasn't functioning due to its batteries being empty. I bought two new 1.5 Volt batteries yesterday afternoon and installed them.
Fun fact ( not so fun for me though ), I haven't had a warm shower in many weeks ( aside from once at my twin sister's place a week or two ago ) because I thought the gas boiler needed to be cleaned or, possibly, replaced and it just wasn't high on my priority list due to many others things that needed to be dealt with here.
My neighbors also returned the solar charger to me, once again and it has been charging ( whenever there were no clouds today ) and is now charging my laptop, while I type this.
- yesterday, the new solar batteries arrived at my place. They are waiting in my adega, underneath the house, to be installed by an electrician in the coming days.
I also played soccer or football ( as we call it in Europe ) or futebol, for two hours yesterday ( for the first time in 2 - or was it 3? - weeks ) and made my way there on my new bike. After we finished playing we saw the last 35 minutes of Portugal-Germany. Portugal lost 2-4. It was already 1-3 when us sweaty guys entered the small cafe. We had done our best though, on the field.
Suffice to say that I need to recover today, to recharge my body's battery.
I am well again. In fact, after a video call with my parents today, I heard my father say, after he thought he had hung up:
Hij zag er ontspannen uit
Dutch for:
He was looking relaxed
It made me smile and I guess he is right. I am feeling pretty relaxed today. Yesterday's exercise has sure done me well.
The long haired bad boy ( that lost his cap on the top picture ) is me. I didn't ask the half naked guys - who were, apparently, brothers, for permission to share their photos so I slightly changed their eyes.
I hope you're all well and I haven't forgotten you!
Until next time and take care :<)
