In my previous post I said I was gonna talk about the possible sale of our/Clare's old house, as a woman from my home country seemed genuinely interested in it.
Long story short, she viewed the house and and I spend 3 hours with her, having lunch and a drink afterwards, showing her around (the town) a bit.
Her response to the house - once she saw it with her own eyes ( offline ) - was extremely disappointing. Very negative. She mainly focused on everything she did not like. There were hardly any positives. So much so, in fact, that she was being rude ( as Clare later pointed out to me ).
It was quite a disheartening experience and left both of us with a bad feeling. Even more as we had had a really good feeling about it, beforehand.
The woman had sounded way different over the phone. Way more positive, kinder and open minded.
The next morning, we ran into her one more time, which was a bit awkward.
The three of us had a barley coffee ( orzo ).
We basically found out, if we hadn't already drawn that conclusion, that this was just the way she is. Super direct and pointing out everything she disliked. She even shared with us that, the day before, she had told the guy from the bar where we had our coffee that the pasta he served her was terrible and way too expensive. That she made a better pasta herself. Tell that to an Italian!
Although we are pretty used to directness ( coming from The Netherlands and Scotland ) this woman took things a bit too far.
But, in all honesty, the most disappointing part was her pivoting from super interested in our house to the contrary.
Anyhow, after drinking an orzo with her, she drove onward, to the coast, to see more houses. She had about two weeks remaining to find a possible place and Clare and I seriously doubt(ed) that will be easy with such an attitude/approach to things.
Anywho, I felt I had to get this out of my system. Clare and I needed some time to recover from this.
Everything happens for a reason.
Since Monday afternoon, we are back on our own land. We are, once again, spending less money, working with our hands and manual tools, using natural materials wherever we can.
We are eating healthier ( see Clare's latest post and her waves for more on that ) and detoxing from the city vibes and the bad taste in our mouth that that woman left.
It has yet been another learning experience.
Although we could really have used the money that selling the house would provide us with, we rather don't sell it and make do with what we have, than to sell it to the wrong person.
I'm sure you understand
Alright, that's it for me today.
Nature is calling!
and I'm not talking about a 💩
It's time to get back into our garden, for some more natural fitness. The best kind of therapy!
All photos taken in the last couple of days, on our own land, where we feel (way more) at peace. Cities are hard work.
