"I brought my little cousin of 14 years to come live with us, its just three months since she came.
Last week I went to the market and bought things for her since she came from the village she didn’t come with much things.
I bought clothes, fancy slippers and other things for her. When I got home, I gave the things to her and my hubby was there. I’m married with 3 kids.
After I gave the things to my girl, I went back into the kitchen to sort out other things I came back with. My hubby sent my girl on an errand .
I went into bathroom to take my bath only to hear my cousin crying and my husband was beating her seriously.
I felt it’s just normal children problem or maybe she has done something, but when the beating continued I had to come out from the bathroom tieing my towel to stop him.
I asked him why he was beating the girl but, he said the girl is stubborn, I sent my cousin in and inquired from my husband what the girl actually did to warrant such beating because she has been a very good girl.
My husband said that she wore one of the fancy slippers I just bought today to the muddy street and messed it up with mud.
I was shocked. I told him that that’s not enough reason to beat the girl, she’s a little girl and she was just excited about the new slippers that’s why she wore it, that he could have just instructed her to wash it.
He started shouting that I am was supporting her and wanted to spoil her. He asked if he didn't have the right to correct her because she's my cousin.
I didn’t even use any abusive words. I didn't just see his excuse as enough reason to beat the girl. Since that day he insisted I should take the girl back to the village. This girl hasn’t done anything, she’s very humble, and always a cheerful girl.
I told my neighbor about it and my neighbor said that it could be that my hubby has started touching her and she refused, the reason for his actions.
Honestly I don’t know what to do.
