Good day everyone, hope you are having a good day, Today I'll be telling you about my trip to the Shoe material market (obviously)
So on Friday my boss (teacher) informed me that I should come earlier than usual on Monday (I usually go to the workshop by 9am) because we'll be going to the market to buy some materials. I was delighted, this wasn't my first time there though I had once escorted a colleague of mine to buy soles for his shoe but this was going to be my first time buying materials for myself usually I had been handed materials and faced with the task of making the slippers I can make.
So yesterday after devotion by like 6:30am (devotion is usually 5:30am to 6am but we slept in for a while ) I brushed, had my bathe did everything i had to do and left the house before 8am.
I got to the workshop a couple minutes after 8am and some minutes after that my boss arrived and we went to the market together.
At the market my boss told me to put my phone away and focus but I managed to snag a few photos for the purpose of this post
This is a stall where they sell Eva, Nora, rubber bontex(paper board) these items are majorly used to make the insole and sometimes sole of slippers and shoe from here I bought a black Nora and bontex (quarter of each) for a combined price of 900 naira (1.8 dollars approximately). My boss also bought fibre and paper board from this stall
These were taken when my boss wanted to buy some accessories (hook) for the bags he's making.
This is a stall where lasts, shoe soles, heels and other items are sold, here I bought a slippers sole for my next slippers for 900 naira(1.8 dollars approximately)
This particular stall was in an unfinished building so the lighting was limited. In this stall they sell all kinds of leather for both shoes and bags the I bought two different types of leather one for lining my work and the other for the outer part of the slippers. The one for the outer part of my slippers cost 200 naira (0.4 dollars approx) per square foot and I bought 5 ft so that's 1000 naira (approx 2 dollars) and the one I use in lining my work cost 100 naira (approx 0.2 dollars) per square foot, I bought 8 ft so thats 800 naira (approx 1.6 dollars)
I also bought gum worth 1,200 naira (approx 2.3 dollars) and a pair of scissors worth 800 naira (approx 1.6 dollars).
The trip to the market though it was exhausting I really enjoyed it I saw a lot more than I was able to capture majorly because my hands were full and I had to pay attention.
Here's a picture of everything I bought
Oh yes, I almost forgot the market is located at Wey street, Mushin Lagos Nigeria
