When in the middle of juggling urgent reports and feeling my stomach rumbling and my sweat dripping due to this very hot weather lately, fries and some refreshments are my comfort food. The last time, I opted to have mais con yelo as my refreshment.
My friend is running a food house business and when I am at work, I just give her a call on what food I love to eat and my food will be delivered in no time. So convenient, right?
Aside from the food business, my friend also runs an ukay-ukay business. Ukay-ukay are pre-loved clothes or clothes that are overproduced or with misprints and tailored in the wrong sizes. In other words, clothes that did not pass the clothing company's quality control are now being sold as ukay-ukay in the Philippines for a very low price.
Every time she would post her products on Facebook she tags me. She makes me shop subconsciously. 😅 So as a result, I found the perfect ukay jeans for me just by browsing her post. I had one reserved.
On the weekend, I went to where her business establishment was located to get my ukay jeans. The place is located in the town proper so before shopping for my weekly supplies, I went to her place first. It was my first time to go to her place since I only have my food delivered when I crave one.
The place is called Sip Zone. But my eyes reads differently. I read it as Sip One 😆. The place was divided into the food house on the right side and the ukay-ukay store on the left side.
I went closer to the counter and tried to ask the service crew about my ukay jeans. I looked at the menu posted there to see what foods they offer so maybe I can order something, sit down a while and enjoy some sumptuous food. They offer breakfast meals, snacks and refreshments.
Looking at the menu, I can't help but get hungry so I ordered one serving of mojos and a buko-pandan shake.
I went inside and found myself in a cozy place. I love the designs of the place and the furnitures which are made of wood. There are cute drawings on the wall. It adds playfulness and character to the place. It balances with the calm neutral colors of brown, black and beige.
But what caught my attention the most is the collection of liquor bottles. The labels are written in different languages and character so I cannot understand anything written on them.
A closer look at some of the bottles.
After a while , the service crew called my attention and brought me to the ukay-ukay area. She ask me about the jeans I ordered.
This is the ukay-ukay area where she displayed her ukay products. It is on the left part of the room without any division in between. Just perfect after having your meal or snack, you can shop directly there.
She handed me my ukay jeans wrapped in plastic bag. Afterwards she also handed me my order. But unfornately, she misheard me and only prepared the buko-pandan shake. But it was fine with me since I can just take the shake out and drink it outside. I have more time shopping my other needs at the market.
Supporting each other is how we survive in this world of uncertainties. It won't hurt if we support our friends when they open their small business. Instead we are not only helping her, we are also helping our economy thrive again especially now that the country is recovering from pandemic.
This is my entry to #marketfriday...
