Do you always set a budget before shopping?
Are you always after the money you can save when buying particular items?
Some people answers those questions with a big YES. And this is why thrift stores are very important to people who considers buying secondhand items in cheaper prices. If you think you're alone, you are not. I am also looking forward to how much money I can save when buying things for myself, so I always make sure to check some thirft stores near me.
And one of my favorite shops to visit is a thrift store that sells pre-loved clothes, also known as "Ukay-Ukay" here in the Philippines. Now let me show you around and bring you with me as I had my #MarketFriday here. Shop with me, and let me know what you think!
Before entering the door, the first thing that I check is the price tags and the discounts available at the moment. And I think this was my lucky day since they are on super sale. I apologize for the exaggeration, but the prices of the clothes sold were insanely cheap. When I checked the tags around, most of the clothes are on sale around 10 Pesos per piece ($0.18) and it's already a great deal for me.
I started walking around, and I think I was a little overwhelmed by the prices that it excites me to check every corner of the store. But I wanted to check on the shoes first. I grabbed the chance to look for shoes, but they have different prices that depend on the quality and appearance. It was really hard to find the best one since there are a lot of options available in the shoe racks.
After a few minutes, I did not grab any pair of shoes and just went to my favorite part – the tops and blouses for women. It was where I think I gave all my energy and power, since I had to pick the best and worthy items. The only disadvantage in buying clothes in a thrift store is that you have to check the items one by one to see if they have damages, or if they will fit on you. Plus, the effort in looking for the best items is kind of tiring too.
When I was too busy choosing and picking some tops, my friend took a picture of me without me noticing it. He only showed it to me after a few minutes, and I realized that he had taken so much photos while I was having my shopping haul.
The moment I already knew that he was taking pictures, I told him to take a new one where I look at the camera and smile. Despite the time-consuming selecting of items, I still had the chance to pause and pose for a while. Then, I came back to my business of picking and holding a few items in my hand.
Since I don't have time to go in the fitting room and try the items I chose, I decided to look for the closest mirror to me and checked if each of them looked good in me. While looking at the mirror and having my decision-making moment (whether to buy the clothes or not), I grabbed the chance to take pictures of myself.
After a few considerations, I finally had the clothes that I wanted to buy. Actually, my decision on what items to choose was divided into two. Here are they:
Casual Wear
One of the things that I considered is the fact that I don't have much clothes for casual wears anymore since I decided to give them away to my cousin's daughter. Since I am already in the thrift store, I chose some clothes that will be perfect for my casual outfits when running some errands.
Formal Wear
Since I am already having my on the job training in an office, I had to adjust my clothing style into formal way. This put me in a situation where I should buy some tops and blouses that can meet the look and attire that I want to achieve. Here are the items I bought that I can pair up with my trousers and skirts.
I really enjoyed this thrift shopping, and it was worth it and saves me some penny too. I hope you loved my participation in the #MarketFriday initiated by . See you and looking forward to reading your entries too.
I cannot express how thankful I am to those who have taken the time to read what I have written today. Your support means everything to me. Please acknowledge the sincere thanks I feel for each and every one of you. I hope to see you on my next blog and look forward to it!
