Friday, 16th of December 2022
I know, Fridays are usually for mushrooms, but yesterday the devil whispered to my ear, telling me I should go shopping today. So I got up early this morning, drank a few coffees and off I go to spend some money. This will be my contribution to #MarketFriday by . By the time I finish writing it will be past midnight, but still kind of Friday for me before I go to sleep đ
My cashback card from my energy company gives me 1-10% cashback on all the shopping I do using it and later that amount is discounted from my energy bill. I know, itâs a poor excuse for shopping, but I guess I felt like I wanted to spoil myself a little. Since I donât celebrate Christmas, I save a lot of money each year, so my little shopping spree was justified đ
First shop I visited was a garden centre. I was hoping to find some heavily discounted bulbs and maybe amaryllis.
Well, I got it all! The shelves with bulbs were fully stacked and most bulbs had 75% discount on them.
I picked quite a few bags of tulips, daffodils and a few other bulbs. My second wish would be to actually plant them. If you read my garden journal for December, youâll know my other bulbs are still not planted and the ground is currently frozen, but we are promised 11 degrees Celsius on Monday, followed up by just below 10 degrees all next week, so Iâm hoping to get planting next week, before I go away up north to visit my friend for Christmas.
Oh, and Amaryllis! Did I mention I wanted one of these? The ones I had in the past are long gone and my dad has one that he keeps taking about, so I like to join him on his Amaryllis journey.
I picked one that had the most healthy looking bulb, one flower stake ready to burst soon and another one on its way. Iâm greedy, I want many flowers đ They should be red according to the label.
Letâs hope I keep this one #ALIVE and try not to run various experiments on it đ
Later on I arrived at the city centre. Not much has changed here since I last visited maybe half a year ago.
I know, some women love shopping more than anything, but for me itâs usually a torture. Going up the stairs towards the first shopping centre, my hands were freezing and I already regretted coming here, as I saw more and more people around me.
I stopped at my comfort zone for a little, to capture those beautiful red fruits. For a moment it was just me and nature, just how I like it.
Then I entered a noisy part and got surrounded by SO many people. Seriously, arenât all these people working on Friday morning? đ
Not as busy as London on Saturday night, where it feels like youâre stuck in traffic, but still way too many people for my taste. I guess thatâs just one reason why I donât really enjoy going shopping much.
I bought couple things in The Works. I love stopping there. I always pick up a bag of things I donât need.
My witchy friend and her daughter got lucky this time. I found some nice gifts for them, even though I wasnât planning on buying any gifts.
For myself I picked up a couple of calendars and those amazing grinch socks! I already presented them to my bestie and she was not impressed:
âWho wears Grinch socks?!!!â She exclaimed.
I didnât answer, cause I thought it was obvious đ
My next stop was at Primark. I wanted some warm panties, but obviously I picked up more. Much more!
Well, that part of my shopping was utterly exhausting. I was sweating in my warm jacket, my bag from The Works was heavy and there were so many people around and enormous queues on all 3 floors.
I was done and my wallet was done too. As I checked my spending card balance, I had ÂŁ7.99 left.
On my way back to the carpark I still had to walk past many market stalls. I wasnât sure if I wanted anything else, but they sure looked pretty.
Once I arrived at this stall, I knew this is where I was going to spend my last money.
The price was a robbery in a daylight - ÂŁ2.99 per 100g. But there were so many different flavours to choose from and I love Fudge đ
I mean⌠they even had Baileyâs!
The total for 5 pieces of this luxury came to just under what I had left, so I was pleased.
Carrying on to my car I walked by many other stalls, but luckily there was nothing else I wanted to buy.
I walked past a pretty, frozen fountain.
Then back into traffic⌠yeah, thatâs the second reason for why I donât like going shopping.
At least I managed to capture the ship in the port while being stuck on the red light forever.
Once I finally got home, I was exhausted more than after a day at work. I quickly ate dinner and was ready to indulge myself. Peanut flavour was my favourite one đ
I thought it will be a good idea to have a power nap before I go out dancing. I set the times for 25 minutes, as I heard thatâs a perfect length of time for it. After 25 mins I didnât feel like getting up, so I repeated the timer for another 25 mins and another⌠2 hours later I woke up even more tired. I really donât know how other people manage to power nap?
)
Until next time đ
