March 4th, 2023 marked my granddaughter Peyton's 5th birthday.
Time to go shopping. Time to share with my #hive friends in the #marketfriday community.
How Y'all doing today? I am feeling happy, I am thinking of my granddaughter, Miss P. she's 5 now. I wanted to get her something that would last, a gift she (hopefully) will remember for a long time.
Off to the city of Norwich I went, a quaint country place, where people stroll the sidewalks and look for bargains. Never in a hurry, people here take their time to enjoy the shops, a place where strangers smile and say hello. Even the shop owners will gab with you and the person behind you doesn't get mad for taking too long, in fact, most times they join into the conversation.
McNeil Jewelers is located right in the center of town, so I parked my car and headed up the block to their lovely place. I have shopped there before, and I learned the place was owned and operated by the two McNeil Brothers. James and Patrick. But it was their parents who opened the business in 1946.
McNeil Jewelers was formed in 1946 when the founder Robert D McNeil came home from service in World War II and attended the Western Pennsylvania Horological Institute for watch making. Known as the GI Jeweler, Bob and his wife Josephine began the business in small storefronts in the downtown Norwich area, specializing in watch repair and carrying a variety of gift items. As the business grew more jewelry lines were added. In 1974 McNeil Jewelers moved to a much larger showroom at 25 South Broad Street in the heart of the downtown Norwich business district.
Service with Honesty and Integrity!
James joined the company in 1974 and Patrick in 1979. Bob and Josephine retired in 1982. Today James and Patrick “The Boys” continue to service the watch and jewelry needs of the area. Their two sons have the same passion as their parents and strive to provide that service with honesty and integrity that is the McNeil family tradition.

March - Aquamarine, Peyton's birthstone.
I thought something with her birthstone would make for a thoughtful gift, something little Miss Peyton could where any time. She had her ears pierced during her infancy, so she is used to wearing them. She's so cute and observant, always checking my necklaces out as well as my earrings. "I like your earrings Grammy". "Do you like mine?" Showing me what she is wearing.
Grammy couldn't make up her mind, so she bought both!
McNeil's carries a wide selection of jewelry as well some lovely gifts, in a nice atmosphere to hang out in and enjoy all the different displays.
It's hard for me to comprehend Peyton is 5 years old, seems like yesterday she popped into this world. That was March 4th, 2018, now she's 5.
Peyton has grown into a wonderful daughter, granddaughter, sister, cousin and friend. She is one of the most agreeable children I have ever met.
Always happy!
Peyton at one. Ears already pierced.
I spent some time in McNeil's shop, talking to Jim, the older brother of Patrick about gold and silver prices. Last year I went through my old jewelry, broken or no longer worn pieces, bagged it up and stopped in to see, just out of curiosity, what this junk was worth.
Boy was I nicely surprised. I not only walked out of there with a pair of pretty silver earrings, for me of course, and $180.00 cash. I really couldn't believe it; I mean this stuff was just junk cluttering up my jewelry box.
I took out to dinner the next day, my treat.
#marketfriday is 's baby, what a fantastic job she does, thanks Denise, you are the best!
Now I will close with your other community #alwaysaflower. I think it's a nice touch. This one's for you, my friend.
Hope y'all have a wonderful weekend!
HUGS!
