We recently heard that they serve meals to the public at the Kloof Country Club. We also heard that their prices are very reasonable and we decided to pay them a visit at some time.
Last weekend was a cool, cloudy, and wet weekend with intermittent rain during the whole weekend. With the Kloof Country Club literally being a 10-minute drive away from us, we decided to visit the Club late Saturday morning.
As we left home, it was cloudy and cool, but it wasn't raining. But from experience, we knew that we might encounter rain by the time we got to the Country Club.
You see, we live at the bottom of the hill. But driving up the hill in this kind of weather, even though it might not be raining when you leave home, is like driving up the hill and straight into the clouds going up the hill. By the time you get to the top, it is raining consistently.
Well, that is exactly what happened again last weekend.
By the time we got to the Kloof Country Club, it was like a slight drizzle that was coming down.
We parked in the parking area in front of the main entrance to the clubhouse.
Although the main focus obviously is on the game of golf, "this Country Club has excellent facilities including a cricket oval, Kiddie's play area, and swimming pool. Facilities for tennis and squash players, companies, and charities hosting golf days or venue hire for business meetings, events and wedding parties, or other special occasions, all can be catered for at Kloof Country Club", according to their website.
It seemed like the rain was lifting for a while and I grabbed the opportunity to take some shots.
Looking out over this part of the golf course, it is no secret about what the time was when we arrived...lol.
Some nice flowers with the golf course in the background.
While I was taking some photos, to my right, a group of friendly young golfers was getting ready for their game. They were in good spirits and kindly gave a nice pose for this photo...lol.
After that, they were off for some healthy competition amongst each other and we went for a stroll/expedition to see what is of interest.
Some golf carts are neatly parked, and ready for use.
To the one side of the clubhouse, is the swimming pool, with some garden furniture where you can also sit down to relax.
Bordering the swimming pool area is the Kiddie's play area.
Just after the Kiddie's play area, we passed this beautiful and well-maintained fish pond.
Just below the clubhouse, there is this deck where you can also be seated to enjoy your meal and/or have something to drink, or just sit back and relax.
Clearly, it was a bit on the wet side now, and we also thought rather to go inside when we were ready to have something to eat.
Moving back towards the front, walking around the clubhouse towards the main entrance, we were met by more beautiful, colorful flowers.
At the main entrance, there is a notification next to this impressive statue, about an upcoming golf day on October, 21.
We then arrived at the (I would call it) cafeteria area. A very neat, friendly, warm, and welcoming space.
With it being cool and wet outside, we had a nice view of the (wet and shiny) porch with the golf course and some golfers in the background.
Zooming in, you can see some heaters have been provided outside as well to keep you warm in cool weather, but... they won't keep you dry...lol.
To the right, there was some cover provided if you would prefer sitting outside.
To the left, there is another porch where you can enjoy the outside freshness while being undercover to keep you dry in this weather.
It was time to order.
My wife decided to have a hot chocolate while I preferred a nice cappuccino...
It was still early (just after 12 pm.) and seeing that we had a late breakfast, we weren't all that hungry. So, we decided to share one pizza between the two of us.
The pizza of choice for both of us was Hawaiin Pizza.
The pizza was served and we were each provided with our own plate and cutlery on the side.
The total of the account for the pizza, the drinks, and a tip for the friendly waiter, added up to R185.00.
With the exchange rate at USD/ZAR = R18.35 at the time of writing this post, that would be a total of $10.08.
It was great to just chill, enjoy some pizza and sip on a cappuccino (hot chocolate for my wife), and leave the hustle and bustle of the past week behind us.
Enjoying the cooler weather after some hot days, we spent some more time at leisure before we returned home.
And that's it for today.
Thank you for reading my post! I do appreciate it!
