It's not even Friday yet but I'm so happy with my purchases this week that I can't wait to show them off (?). I'm already getting anxious before another long trip so I'm in a hurry, trying to finish everything I have pending before I leave home for a few more months. This trip will have the particularity that it is in winter and as I always thought, it requires a lot of preparation in terms of clothes and elements for the cold. Of course, I want to buy as much as I can while I'm in Buenos Aires, because everything will be much more expensive at destination and luckily, I already got almost everything I wanted 😃.
Todavía no es viernes pero estoy tan contenta con mis compras de esta semana que no puedo esperar más para mostrarlas (?). Ya me esta agarrando la ansiedad previa a un nuevo viaje largo así que estoy bastante acelerada, tratando de terminar con todo lo que me queda pendiente antes de salir de casa por algunos meses más. Este viaje tendrá la particularidad de que es en invierno y como siempre pensé, requiere bastante preparación en cuanto a ropa y elementos para el frío. Por supuesto, quiero comprarme lo más que pueda mientras esté en Buenos Aires, porque en destino todo va a ser muchísimo más costoso y por suerte, ya conseguí casi todo lo que quería 😃.
When it comes to clothes, my favorite place to go to get good stuff is the second hand fair. This fair is held on Wednesdays and Saturdays a block from my house, and we've lived in that neighborhood for 14 years, so you can imagine that I'm already experienced in getting good deals. My eye is trained to easily discern what is worth buying and what is not. Technical mountain clothing is very expensive, but I have to say that this fair supplied me very well and at incredible prices 😃.
Cuando se trata de ropa, mi lugar preferido para ir a conseguir buenas cosas es la feria de segunda mano. Esta feria se hace los miércoles y sábados a una cuadra de mi casa, y nosotros vivimos en ese barrio hace 14 años, así que se imaginarán que ya soy experimentada en conseguir buenas ofertas. Ya tengo el ojo entrenado para discernir fácilmente entre lo que vale la pena comprar y lo que no. La ropa técnica de montaña es muy costosa, pero debo decir que esta feria me abasteció muy bien y a precios increíbles 😃.
Sometimes it's funny to see that almost all my outfits are from the fair, but I always get things that I like and for more than half the price of their equivalent in new. My latest acquisition from the fair for this upcoming trip is these hiking pants in their winter version. In November last year I had bought a beautiful hiking pant, windbreaker and waterproof for only $5. I'm not sure that one will hold up to the winter cold in the south of Argentina, so I decided to buy another one 😃.
A veces me causa gracia ver que casi todo mi outfit es de ropa de la feria, pero es que siempre consigo cosas que me gustan y por más de la mitad de precio que su equivalente en nuevo. Mi última adquisición de la feria para este viaje que se viene es este pantalón de senderismo en su versión invernal. En noviembre del año pasado me había comprado un pantalón hermoso de senderismo, rompevientos e impermeable por solo $5. No estoy segura de que ese se aguante el frío del invierno en el sur de Argentina, así que decidí comprarme otro más 😃.
This pant is made of softshell fabric and is thermal inside. It really looks like new, it has no details so it's ready to wear. I found it in a jumble full of other hiking pants, but I liked this one the best because of how new it looked. Now our dollar is a little high, so it cost me an equivalent of $11 approx (15,000 ARS). These days we were having a polar wave in Argentina so I already had the opportunity to try it in the mornings of Buenos Aires: with thermal sensations of -2°C and with only thin socks underneath I didn't feel cold at all. Excellent purchase ❤️.
Este pantalón es de tela softshell y por dentro es térmico. Se ve realmente como nuevo, no tiene ningún detalle así que está listo para usar. Lo encontré en un revoltijo lleno de otros pantalones de senderismo, pero este me gustó más por lo nuevo que se veía. Ahora nuestro dólar está un poco alto, por lo que me costó un equivalente a $11 aprox (15.000 ARS). Estos días estuvimos teniendo una olar polar en Argentina así que ya tuve la oportunidad de probarlo en las mañanas de Buenos Aires: con sensaciones térmicas de -2°C y con solo unas medias finas debajo no sentí nada de frío. Excelente compra ❤️.
But of course not all my stuff is from the fair and I like to invest in new and durable things. One thing that I knew was very specific and that I couldn't get at the fair was snow gloves. While there are a lot of cheap gloves available for their not-so-good quality, I didn't want to buy one of those. I am a person who has freezing hands all the time, even now as I write this inside my house, next to the stove, my hands are freezing and sore. When it's my turn to be outside in the winter it's going to be a thousand times worse, so I couldn't just buy anything 😅.
Pero por supuesto que no toda mis cosas son de la feria y que me gusta invertir en cosas nuevas y duraderas. Algo que sabía que era muy específico y que no podría conseguir en la feria eran unos guantes de nieve. Si bien hay mucha oferta de guantes baratos por su calidad no tan buena, no quería comprar unos de esos. Yo soy una persona que tiene las manos congeladas todo el tiempo, incluso ahora mientras escribo esto adentro de mi casa, al lado de la estufa, tengo las manos heladas y adoloridas. Cuando me toque estar afuera en el invierno esto va a ser mil veces peor, así que no podía comprar cualquier cosa 😅.
When I went to Ushuaia in November last year, my friend had lent me his snow gloves. This loan lasted for six months, and the truth is that I used them a lot. Now I also plan to go for a few more months, but I could no longer abuse the loan so I bought my own. I tried to get the same brand and model because those had worked well for me but I couldn't find them, so I bought similar ones of the same brand. For them I paid about $68 aprox (94.000 ARS), of course in six installments without interest haha. They were quite expensive, but I know they will keep my hands protected ❤️.
Cuando fui a Ushuaia en noviembre del año pasado, mi amigo me había prestado sus guantes de nieve. Este préstamo se extendió durante seis meses, y la verdad es que los usé un montón. Ahora también planeo irme algunos meses más, pero ya no podía abusar del préstamo así que me compré los míos propios. Intenté conseguir la misma marca y modelo porque esos me habían funcionado bien pero no los encontré, así me compré unos parecidos de la misma marca. Por ellos pagué unos $68 aprox (94.000 ARS), por supuesto en seis cuotas sin interés jaja. Fueron bastante costosos, pero sé que van a mantener mis manos protegidas ❤️.
Something I also want to buy is an extra pair of thermal tights: I swear I'm so afraid of getting cold that I'd rather be overdressed than underdressed. Besides that, I want to renew my cell phone case and the tempered glass that is already quite ruined. The trip hasn't even started and I've already had a few expenses, but I know it's going to be worth it. I'm excited to see the south of my country all snowed in since I always went in summer, I just hope the weather takes pity on us 😂.
Algo que también quiero comprar es una calza térmica extra: juro que tengo tanto miedo de pasar frío que prefiero que la ropa me sobre y no que me falte. Además de eso, quiero renovar la funda de mi celular y el vidrio templado que ya está bastante arruinado. El viaje ni siquiera empezó y ya tuve unos cuantos gastos, pero sé que va a valer la pena. Estoy emocionada por ver el sur de mi país todo nevado ya que siempre fui en verano, solo espero que el clima se apiade de nosotros 😂.
