When you are driving on the highway it is not easy to find a market you would visit. Yes, when we stop in a city to rest and walk around a bit, eat and sleep we see shops, markets and visit restaurants. Sometimes we buy a souvenir as a little reminder we visited that place, but mainly the focus is on getting water and a bit of food for the time we spend in car.
After our first night in that little town in France (those who read my latest post know which one :D ) we continued yesterday morning toward our next destination (which was already in Italy). First mistake - it was a bit late we left our accomodation in Mauguio. The clock showed almost 8 AM and it is a bit late when you have to drive between 800 and 900 km.
Second mistake - we stopped to rest and buy coffee/eat something at one gas station but we stayed too long time. We lost some 45 minutes. Usually, we stop in places like this for shorter time, twenty or thirty minutes as the longest rest. We always take a look in the shop too though the prices are more expensive... that's the price of driving on the highway.
For a cup of coffee with milk I pay around $2,50 or $3,00 but on the coffee machine it is more affordable. One can of energy drink is $4,60 and the food is not cheap either.
But these rests are inevitable, every two or three hours. The important thing is that they are not too long as we loose a lot of time then. A short walk inside is good too, to stretch the legs. While we were walking for a few minutes there we spotted this board with information about French history. Seems that Napoleon was here around too.
My son liked to be inside and joke that he wants a children book 😂 (it was just a joke, he is not small). I saw some nice souvenirs but I found it expensive to pay $11 for a set of two small soaps.
Luckily, we didn't have to charge our phones ( I charge it in the car) as we would spend even more time in this place. We continued, with coffee, until the next of these stops.
Btw, we are on the road again, right now at a gas station and a coffee shop, taking my first coffee today. In a different country.
