Hello Hive
Education is an expensive commodity
So many people are out of school around here and as many others are prune to drop out because of the expenses associated with acquiring knowledge.
Educations gets expensive as the days passes, starting from the prices of writing materials to the school fees paid in classrooms, only a hand full of persons are able to afford the bills to attend and graduate college successfully.
The school system is so bad that the so called free education offered by the government is so useless, students do not get quality education unless they are willing to pay the price and attend private schools.
A country that values the development of its states and citizens must be willing to invest in education. No wonder this part of the world will most likely continue to remain amongst the poor underdeveloped countries.
Why should books be this expensive
Shouldn't books and textbooks be distributed to learners for free and learning made easy for those willing to acquire knowledge.
I have witnessed countries empower their citizens with different scholarship and student loans, equipping them with the right knowledge for nations development.
They graduate school and still get placement to work and pay back their student loans but after that the knowledge is their to make a living and better their country for a lifetime.
Why can't Africa counties adopt that.
We have a huge lineup of brilliant and bright learners with no opportunity and even the ones who struggle to graduate school have no place to practice, that why the country is witnessing mass migration of doctors and nurses from Nigeria to the European countries.
So much burden is left for the few doctors available that you get to spend hours in clinics with no one to attend to you.
It all boils down to education.
The summary of my shopping adventures to a bookstore to get writing materials for my siblings got me thinking in this direction.
This is Monday Monday book store located in Ilorin, it sells varieties of school materials and children learning toys and tools.
At every school resuming or beginning of exams I do make shoppings for pens, rulers, crayons and writing materials for my siblings.
Children can be so playful to loss all of these items and I wouldn't have my sister seated in an exam hall without a writing pen.
Education is expensive but we have to pay the price and acquire knowledge in order not to be left behind regarding all the happenings and development seen around the world.
