Hello friends, the truth is that every time I visit supermarkets and shop, seeing the amount of products I bring home, it reminds me of those 90s when with only 40% of the monthly salary, you could fill the shopping cart. supermarket, well friends, times have changed and now to make purchases, you have to have a calculator on hand so as not to overdraw the amount available on the debit card.
Today, Friday, November 3, my wife and I went to the supermarket to do some shopping.
This morning I went with my wife to buy some things for the house, including legumes, beef, rice, flour, pasta and grains, in reality, what we have been buying lately are basic products, because with the salary that we perceive, we cannot crave many fruits, nor canned foods, much less buy new products with the idea of testing their quality, as we did before, in reality with this very tight or limited budget, we only buy the basics, which are meats, and the other products that I have pointed out to you, so no cravings, but hey friends, despite everything, we must thank God for the food we bring home.
This morning, before going to the supermarket, my wife made a small list of the products we were going to buy in priority order. Of course, the first thing she put in her wallet was the calculator and of course, my debit card. and hers, which are the cards where they deposit our salaries and retirement pension.
My wife is a good manager of the family budget
Since my wife is a good money manager, most of the time I let her choose the products, because there are products with brands that cost more than others and she knows which of them is best for her, of course, I choose the meats. , because when I was very young I worked as a butcher's assistant and I know what the first-class cuts are.
I'm in charge of choosing the meat:
Walking through the supermarket aisles:
While my wife looks for the products she needs, according to her list, I take care of rolling the cart, but always keeping an eye on the offers on the shelves.
OH OH, It can't be, I spent 38 dollars on a few products
Yes friends, it seems like a lie, but it's true, when they gave me the invoice I was surprised by the amount, we knew that the amount was there because we were adding the amounts with the calculator, but in reality, there are few products. I tell you that this reminds me of when in 1992 I had a salary of 10,200 bolivars, equivalent to 128 dollars, and I tell you that with 3,000 bolivars I filled the supermarket cart, 3,000 bolivars equivalent to 38 dollars, which represented 30% of the salary, look how the currency has been devalued in Venezuela, now with 38 dollars we buy few products like the purchase I just made, but hey, we have to move forward and continue thanking God for the food that, even in difficulties, we can bring to home.
