✨Hola! '✨Can't believe it's Friday once again! I've had an extremely tight schedule this week and I'm just glad I could spare a few minutes to piece this short article in time for #MarketFriday. 🥁🥁🥁
Last #MarketFriday, you joined me on my 2nd day at Canton Fair. Today, we're back again inside China's biggest international fair for the last time! founder of the #MarketFriday movement asked me last time "What's your favorite hall and why?"
To be honest, it's a tough question to come up with just one answer. After thorough deliberation of the options I have in mind, I've finally narrowed down my answer to toys. Did my answer surprise you? I bet you thought of household items or furniture as my favorite hall in the fair, right? But I guess, you'll have to accept defeat for now. 😅
Why toys? When we entered the hall for toys, I was surprised to meet the young Patsitivity there. At 20 something, I thought it'll be irritating to be surrounded by nonsense toys of all kinds, colors, shapes, and materials; turned out I was wrong, and I enjoyed every minute I was there. As I couldn't walk you through the entire hall allotted for toys, I'll just highlight memorable encounters such as (1) meeting a life-size T-rex. I've never been afraid of dinosaurs or the idea that they existed a long time ago. I also love watching dinosaur-themed movies. What I didn't know back then is that meeting a moving dinosaur in person could turn out traumatic (just refer to one of my photos, you could see my not-so-pleasant expression!) 🤣 When we passed by a booth displaying life-size dinosaurs for educational purposes, we stopped by for photo ops but I had no time to prepare myself for what their display could do. It moved and the reverberating sound of the dinosaur on display caused my heart to skip a beat. For a minute, the dinosaur beside me felt real, as in alive and ready to eat me whole.
Another memorable experience was (2) seeing toy guns that are as huge as 10-year-old kids (not kidding here!) and finding out they cost half their prices when bought in the Philippines. Of course, retailers in PH had to pay for shipping, tax, warehousing, etc. But damn it, can we have a mini Canton Fair for Christmas? And (3) huge teddy bears or stuffed toys in general. I had a sackful of stuffed toys that I loved playing with the kids in our neighborhood. I used to have the largest collection of teddy bears (small and big) and kids my age play with me because they're never bored of my toy collections.
I remember seeing more toys in the fair but I just showed you the highlight of the day or the fair haha Later that day we took more photos outside of the halls as we bade farewell to one of the most amazing work trips. :) It has been great reminiscing about my work adventure at Guangzhou's Canton Fair and I hope you had fun, too! See you in the next Market Friday. 🎉🎉🎉
