Greetings to all! This is the first time I write here, but I went to the supermarket and I thought it was a good idea to write a little about my shopping.
I am located in Venezuela, Táchira state. One of the states that border with the neighboring country Colombia, so there are 3 currencies in circulation, the Colombian currency, the Venezuelan currency and the American dollar.
I went to the supermarket for some groceries for the month, normally at home we shop at the local and organic markets, but my daughter came from the capital of the country and took me to buy in the supermarket that I did not know since the vegetable market is a couple of blocks from my house.
I arrived at the supermarket and was impressed with the extraordinary prices of everything. With what I normally buy at the vegetable market here I couldn't buy half as much. My daughter said she could buy some things and no matter how much I insisted she couldn't she filled up a shopping cart and finally paid $130.
The tomato for example is in the supermarket at 4$ a kilo, with this I could buy 2 kilos in the vegetable market and the best thing is that they are organic products.
The box of tea that I like to drink is between 2$ and 5$ which is double what I get in the neighborhood store where I live.
I bought some fruits for my granddaughter, rice, corn flour and coffee. But I still feel dissatisfied with the bill. I will not shop at this place again as my budget does not fit these prices with inflation.
My recommendation to look for the economy dodging inflation and hard times, is that we should make a tour of the local markets to avoid overpricing for imports and adjust our purchases to a fair budget. I hope you find my recommendation useful and I will see you in the next opportunity.
