TGIF its another market Friday initiated by ,market Friday is all about showcasing you market from different places in the world 🌏 your culture and traditions, today I will be taken you through a different market where local drums are being sold
, this drums are been used locally and even some foreign singers and hip hop artist are also using it as part of their musical instrument, what am I talking about its a drum called (gangan)
in Yoruba language the western part of Nigeria 🇳🇬, gangan is very popular among the juju artist and the afro singers, some other part of the country also use it in their own way but in the western part of Nigeria it is well known and its one of our major drums,
(gangan) comes in different types and sizes from the small to the biggest,(gangan)is also made from animal skin
and crafted wood
, I decided to visit this shop to get a smaller drum for my church to support the church choir, the cost of the drums varies but I decided to get the medium size which cost about 15000 naira (30$) but I ended up paying him instalments we both agreed am going to pay 3times and the deal was agreed anyway he was my college mate he gave me one of the the best drum and I can see it was a good one
, and the name of his brand was (iyailu) meaning the mother of drums in Yoruba language, I have a wonderful time with him and my purpose was achieved
thanks to for this lovely initiative
