How much do we know about the CE COMMON ERA, the AD ANNO DOMINI ERA or AFTER CHRIST ERA?
Reading my friend 's article, I imagined what the world was like before Christ was born.
While playing a game called Diablo, I became interested in the European world before Jesus was born.😳
Diablo Cover artDiablo is an action role-playing video game developed by Blizzard North and released by Blizzard Entertainment in January 1997.
Set in the fictional Kingdom of Khanduras in the mortal realm, the player controls a lone hero battling to rid the world of Diablo, the Lord of Terror. Beneath the town of Tristram, the player journeys through sixteen randomly generated dungeon levels, ultimately entering Hell in order to face Diablo.
An expansion pack, Diablo: Hellfire, was released in November 1997 by Synergistic Software. In 1998, Electronic Arts released Diablo for the PlayStation.[10] This version, developed by Climax Studios, featured direct control of the main character's direction, as opposed to point-and-click movement, using the PlayStation controller. A Sega Saturn version was considered by Electronic Arts but never released.[11] The game's success led to two sequels: Diablo II in 2000 and Diablo III in 2012. A third sequel, Diablo IV, is in development. In 2021 a mobile-device-oriented version, Diablo Immortal, entered closed beta.
Story
The game starts when the player's character arrives in Tristram. Several of the remaining townsfolk assist the player such as Deckard Cain the Elder.[15] The labyrinth under the Cathedral descends from the dungeon/church, to the catacombs, followed by the caves, and finally Hell itself, each with a mixture of the undead, animals, and demons. King Leoric has been re-animated as the Skeleton King.
Late in the game, the hero must defeat Archbishop Lazarus, and eventually Diablo himself. At the end of the game, the hero kills Diablo's mortal form.[16] The hero then takes the Soulstone out of Diablo's forehead after which Diablo transforms into a lifeless Prince Albrecht.[16] The hero then drives the Soulstone into his/her own forehead, and he or she contains the essence of Diablo within himself or herself.[16]
As told in the sequel Diablo II, canonically the warrior was the hero that defeated Diablo only to become possessed. The Rogue became Blood Raven while the Sorcerer became the False Summoner, both of them NPC enemies. Diablo III further retconned the story by establishing the nameless warrior as Prince Aidan, the eldest son of Leoric and older brother of Albrecht.
Diablo is a game that achieved cult popularity and mass success in the world I live in.
Even today, there are many fans who enjoy these games.
I really enjoyed the universe and story of the Diablo series very interestingly.
Although I was a Christian, I was very interested in Diablo because I was very interested in the European world and civilization before it became a Christian world.😳
DiabloThe story of Diablo is based on the premise of a war between Heaven and Hell. The town of Tristram is under attack by hordes of demons, pouring forth from beneath the ruined Tristram Cathedral, and the player must save the town. As the player delves into the network of labyrinths within the Dungeons, and later on the Catacombs beneath, which in turn are followed by the Caves further deep down, he or she discovers more about the Demon Diablo, who is residing in the final level of Hell, which lies even further beyond, through large tomes which are found throughout the levels. Eventually, the player reaches the lair of Diablo himself and must kill him.
Diablo, who is an incredibly powerful demon, is the Lord of Terror and one of the Three Prime Evils of Hell, who had been imprisoned within a Soulstone, and buried in the caverns deep beneath the town of Tristram centuries ago by an ancient people known as the Horadrim. Although his imprisonment was meant to be eternal, Diablo worked tirelessly to corrupt his Soulstone, eventually overpowering his prison. Diablo received help from the thoroughly corrupt Archbishop Lazarus, who had been turned into his loyal servant. However, in order for Diablo to actually manifest himself in the mortal realm, he needed a mortal vessel to house his spirit.
Diablo first tried to possess King Leoric, the local ruler of Tristram, but due to his weakened state and the strong will of the King, Diablo failed to gain full control. Therefore, the demon abandoned the King, which in turn left the King crazed and senseless. Lazarus then kidnaps King Leoric's younger son, Prince Albrecht. He leads him deep into the Catacombs where he inserts the Demon's Soulstone in the Prince's forehead. This allowed Diablo to possess and warp the prince, thereby attaining material form. Diablo may have a body now, but he is far from his full power, so he bides his time and summons countless hordes of demons, infesting the entire underground complex, gradually turning the region into an outpost of Hell.
The maddened King Leoric accuses the townsfolk of Tristram with the kidnapping of Albrecht, and has several people executed. His loyal knights try to calm him, but as the crazed king has completely lost his sanity they are forced to kill him. His dying words are a terrible curse, damning the knights into unholy servitude. Meanwhile, Lazarus emerged from the catacombs and rallied the townsfolk, leading them deep into the catacombs in order to save the prince. This turns out to be a trap - instead Lazarus lures and leads them to the lair of The Butcher. Many of the townsfolk are slain by the demons. Afterwards Lazarus flees deeper into the underground Dungeon.
Demons appear in the countryside as the Lord of Terror regains his strength in the very heart of the labyrinth and prepares, biding the time when he would once again emerge to seek out his brothers - Baal and Mephisto - and free them as well. It seemed to be only a matter of time until the three Prime Evils gained dominion over the entire mortal realm.
Diablo's worldview and history contain various religions, tribes, and myths from Europe, Islam, and Asia before the Christian world.😳
Diablo's plot
In the beginning, there was only one god, but when that god split into two beings, good and evil, the world of Diablo was born.
Good and evil entered into an eternal war, claiming each other to be the truth. However, because the two beings were immortal beings, there was no contest.
So, both forces of good and evil turned their eyes to the humans of Middle-earth.
They decided to wage a vicarious battle between good and evil, choosing mortal humans as their respective champions.
The angels and demons promised each other not to intervene directly with the humans of Middle-earth, but to choose humans as their respective agents.
However, the demons broke their promises with the angels.
The leaders of the demons, Baal of Destruction, Mephisto of Hatred, and Diablo of Terror, descended directly into the human world.
They wished to enter the human body directly and claim final victory by corrupting Middle-earth.
Angels select humans and give them strength and ability to eliminate Baal, Mephisto, and Diablo.
The Diablo game began as humans, chosen by angels, engaged in battles and expeditions to eliminate demons.
As I read the worldview and history of Diablo, I felt a great shock, emotion, and charm.
In Diablo, the image of the European world dominated by heathenism before the birth of Jesus could be found in Diablo.
I've always wondered why Europeans abandoned their pagan beliefs and chose Christianity.
Diablo seemed to contain a clue as to why Europeans chose Christianity.
Diablo contained the Christian eschatology and soteriology. I guessed that Europeans who were originally pagans became Christians when they surrendered to Christian eschatology and soteriology.
If I could speak English as much as my friend , I would be able to write more English sentences.
However, my current English conversation skills were insufficient to describe all my thoughts and feelings.
So, I have come to this conclusion as of now.
- Diablo described the European world before it became a Christian world.
- In Diablo, the fact that Christianity's eschatology and soteriology had collapsed the polytheistic world came out.
- The Europeans, who were originally pagans, succumbed to Christian eschatology and soteriology.
