It has been a while since I posted, so I better just get right to it with no BS excuses as to why.
Introduction – Is Agile Here to Stay?
The agile method is not a fringe concept, and in this post-pandemic life is taking center stage. As of 2020, ## Header 271 percent of firms were working on implementing agile approaches, with the figure expected to rise as the virus continues to do its thing.
What began as software development guru 'voodoo' has soon evolved into a solution for various business units, including the IT service desk and IT Service Management, during the time of 'digital transformation' for most organizations and during what many have come to refer to as the "year of the pivot" and beyond.
Additionally, Gartner estimates that by 2023, 80 percent of ITSM teams that have not adopted an agile approach would see their ITSM practices overlooked or bypassed as more agile ways of working are adopted elsewhere in the organization. (Not like they weren't being overlooked and ignored already.)
Furthermore, in a recent Omdia study, 60 percent of respondents from North America and Europe combined evaluated agile technology as highly critical. However, I would like to know what the role of the respondents was in the organizations surveyed because there is often a disconnect between what upper management sees as critical and what the technical keyboard smashers see as critical.
But how do you deploy agile methodologies while maintaining the structure and stability that your service desk is known for?
I will try to cover all the basics you should know to get the most out of Agile ITSM in this series of posts. To help you get started, I will also present real-world examples of agile in action, as well as a visualization of agile in the context of incident management.
Conclusion
That’s it for now, my next post will be on the Fundamentals of Agile. Let me know what you think?
This was only an introduction post, so feel free to share some thoughts on the topic and what you might expect to see as we move forward in future posts in the comments section. I love to hear from and engage with you.
P.S. It is nice to be back.
