The cow in the picture above has suddenly stopped eating. Once rising once lying down. It was obvious that he was having a lot of problems. The owner of the cow said that the stomach was bloated and loaded with gas. I investigated that this is what happened
In this image you can see how the stomach of the cow is blotted. If you touch its stomach, you can understand that it is hard and full of gas. You can also understand this by looking at the image
In this image, the cow is seen with its mouth closed. The cow chews the grass in its stomach again, but it is not doing so now. If you look further, you can see that the cow is not eating anything.
Those who grow cows have noticed the stomach bloating disease of cows and how terrible this disease is. However, eating too much raw grass can cause this disease. All the cows I have seen with this disease all ate too much raw grass. And some grasses that are not old enough to eat. Stomach bloating can be caused by various other reasons such as cow feed containing urea, eating excessive amount of rice like food etc. At present the price of a cow is very high. If the cow dies of any disease, the farmer suffers a huge loss. And cow's stomach bloating disease causes many serious problems including death of cows. So we should know a lot about this disease.
A cow's stomach is divided into four parts which are mentioned below
- rumen
- reticulum
- omasum
- abomasums
Stomach bloating in cows is responsible for RUMEN. The rumen is the largest chamber of the stomach. When a cow eats something, it passes through the esophagus and reaches the rumen. However, the rumen has a honeycomb pattern that I have also seen. The bacteria inside break down the food.
Food is digested inside this rumen. Ammonia gas is produced during digestion of food. Some cow foods produce very high levels of this gas. When ammonia gas is produced in excess, the rumen becomes less efficient and gas cannot be expelled. As a result, the stomach swells. The cow stops eating.
This is actually a big problem. Even infected cows can die. The cow's stomach swells and causes pressure on the lungs, resulting in respiratory problems. As a result, the cow may die of suffocation. This disease can also lead to heart attack. This is a big concern for cow farmers
However, if there is any disease, the farmers are worried. There are some good methods to get rid of this disease and anxiety. The doctor initially gives the cow some anti-gas medicine and waits for a few hours. If the problem seems to be getting worse then he uses the technique of expelling gas.
The first method is: a stomach tube is inserted through the mouth of the cow, which reaches the rumen of the stomach. Some of its partially digested food and gas are released from the tube. Water is pumped under pressure from the outside into the stomach and expelled. After this process is repeated several times, the cow recovers.
The second method is to make a hole along the cow's stomach. A sharp knife should be used for piercing which should be sterilized. After this the gas will escape when the hole is made. Half-digested food should be brought out by inserting the hand into the stomach. After that, suture should be done using sterile needle.
There are some grass species that are fast growing. These grasses cannot be fed to cows unless they are mature. Otherwise cows may die from eating this grass. So young fast growing grasses should be avoided. Cows should be fed grain feed in moderation. I have seen cows and goats get bloated after eating too much rice. Cows should be fed a proper mixture of all foods so that no food is too much or too little. A doctor should be consulted to cure cow's stomach disease. A healthy stomach can provide better resistance to disease so cows should be given the necessary medication
