The first AI agent
In recent years, artificial intelligence lived trapped inside chat windows, you asked, it answered and everything apparently ended there, but that phase is coming to an end, a new type of AI began to silently spread across the Internet, an AI that not only talks, but acts, reads your emails, organizes your files, executes commands on the terminal, controls devices in your home and responds to messages as if it were a friend.
Peter Steinberger created the project previously called Clawdbot and Moltbot and now under the name OpenClaw, it works as a personal operating system based on AI, you can ask it to summarize reports, monitor servers, rename thousands of files, organize folders, send messages, follow stock prices, even activate home automations, all this without opening a specific application, just send a message, but that is exactly where the problem arises.
OpenClaw is not just a jetboot, it is an agent and an autonomous agent, unlike traditional AIs that sleep until they are called, agents like Moltbot remain active monitoring events, making decisions and executing actions continuously, it is the beginning of the so-called era of agentic AI and the moment an AI gains access to your files, your terminal and your accounts it stops being just software, they become a digital operator.
We were witnessing the birth of the first draft of something much bigger, perhaps something similar to J.a.r.v.i.s' embryonic moment in Iron Man, but all J.a.r.v.i.s before being a hero needs to be tamed. Technology is not the villain and, by the way, salvation is not an amplifier either. From now on, what will define its impact on society is not how powerful it is, but whether we also learn to control it.
