Earth's tectonics are just another way in which our lovely planet is extraordinary, and one of the important geological features of Earth that make it such a verdant home for living things. Some evidence suggests that extraterrestrial impacts may have instigated bursts of tectonic activity, or even kick-started Earth's tectonic system. It's quite amazing how very limited information can inform quite substantive theories regarding Earth's early geology.
Thanks!
RE: How unique is Earth? New evidence shows it’s the only planet with unique and active plate tectonics - moving for 3.5 billion years.
