Hola amigos de Zona de Escalofríos. Hoy les traigo mi publicación de participación en la iniciativa del mes de mayo que es libre y como me uní hace poco, me gustaría empezar por el principio, valga la redundancia. Así que escogí hablar sobre la primera iniciativa creada que tiene que ver sobre cómo percibo el terror. Aprovecho para hacerla también para que me conozcan más y a mis gustos particulares sobre este género. Bueno, ¡empecemos con las preguntas!
Hello friends of Zona de Escalofríos. Today I bring you my post of participation in the May initiative which is free and since I joined recently, I'd like to start at the beginning, redundancy aside. So I chose to talk about the first initiative created that has to do with how I perceive terror. I take this opportunity to do it also so you can get to know me and my particular tastes about this genre. Well, let's start with the questions!
¿Te gusta el género del terror?
Por supuesto, le tuve curiosidad desde pequeña. Tengo dos hermanos mayores, nos llevamos bastantes años, así que cuando veíamos la televisión juntos de noche siempre había una película de terror de por medio. Tenía unos 7 años y ya había mirado todas las películas de Freddy Krueger, Chucky y Jason. Imaginen una niña de 7 años mirando películas sobre un tipo desfigurado que te mataba en tus pesadillas, un muñeco asesino y otro con máscara y motosierra, no dormía muy bien de noche que digamos. De todos modos encontraba cierto placer morboso en todo este mundo escalofriante. Hoy en día amplié mis horizontes y puedo decir que disfrutó cualquier producción del género, y de las historias de suspenso que escucho sobre espíritus, fantasmas y demás seres del averno.
Do you like the terror genre?
Of course, I was curious about it from a young age. I have two older brothers, we're quite a few years apart, so when we watched TV together at night there was always a horror movie involved. I was about 7 years old and I had already watched all the Freddy Krueger, Chucky and Jason movies. Imagine a 7 year old girl watching movies about a disfigured guy who killed you in your nightmares, a killer doll and another one with a mask and chainsaw, I didn't sleep very well at night. Anyway, I found a certain morbid pleasure in all this creepy world. Today I have broadened my horizons and I can say that I enjoy any production of the genre, and the suspense stories I hear about spirits, ghosts and other beings from the underworld.
¿Qué te causa miedo?
Es gracioso, lo que más me daba terror (y todavía lo hace) son los tiburones jajaja, les tengo pánico real, desde pequeña encabezaban todas mis pesadillas. Pero como todo tiene un final, en algún momento las pesadillas sobre tiburones desaparecieron y le dieron paso a las de zombies. Por muchos años me atormentaron, hay un personaje en particular que despierta todos mis instintos paralizantes y ese es Nemesis, el monstruo de la saga de videojuegos y películas de Resident Evil. Aunque, al mismo tiempo, me generó cierta fascinación por ellos, cualquier tipo de producción sobre zombies la tengo que consumir, soy fanática. A veces me sorprendo a mi misma fantaseando con un apocalipsis zombie y lo qué haría, ¿alguien más lo hace? ¿no? Bueno.
What are you afraid of?
It's funny, the thing that terrified me the most (and still does) are sharks hahaha, I have a real panic about them, since I was a little girl they were at the top of all my nightmares. But as everything has an end, at some point the shark nightmares disappeared and gave way to zombie nightmares. For many years they tormented me, there is one character in particular that awakens all my paralyzing instincts and that is Nemesis, the monster from the Resident Evil saga of video games and movies. Although, at the same time, it generated me a certain fascination for them, any kind of production about zombies I have to consume, I'm a fan. Sometimes I catch myself fantasizing about a zombie apocalypse and what I would do, does anyone else do that, right? Well.
¿Cómo percibes el terror?
Bueno, como les decía, encuentro cierta emoción al consumir algo que me despierte terror, pero a veces termino desilusionada al no conseguir lo que esperaba. Siento una contradicción porque temo que algo me generé puro terror, pero me decepciona si no lo hace, ya que si tengo ganas de una buena dosis de miedo quiero que me la den. También es cierto que el género terror es mucho más que el miedo, es bastante amplio el asunto. En definitiva, amo que algo que está hecho para dar miedo me haga experimentarlo.
How do you perceive terror?
Well, as I was saying, I find a certain thrill in consuming something that arouses terror in me, but sometimes I end up disappointed when I don't get what I expected. I feel a contradiction because I'm afraid that something will generate pure terror, but I'm disappointed if it doesn't, because if I feel like a good dose of fear I want to get it. It's also true that the horror genre is much more than just scary, it's quite broad in scope. In short, I love that something that is made to be scary makes me experience it.
¿Cuál es tu creencia del terror?
Esta pregunta es amplia. Me considero una persona de mente abierta, así que pienso que todos los mitos, criaturas, fantasmas, espíritus, almas en pena, ovnis y un largo etc., realmente existen o existieron porque siento que de algún lado salieron tantas historias y gente que experimentó hechos paranormales. Por supuesto que no creo que existan los zombies, por ejemplo, pero no descarto que en algún momento ocurra (para ello me preparo viendo tanta serie al respecto jajaja). Pero todo lo que sea paranormal, eso sí elijo creer. Me fascina leer sobre este tipo de historias, ver documentales, escuchar los testimonios sobre casos de exorcismo, limpiezas de casas con espíritus o almas en pena que quedaron estancadas. Creo que es lo que más me llama la atención. También el tema de las brujas me resulta interesante y sí creo que existan, solo que no como se piensa en realidad. Al igual que la vida extraterrestre, pienso que hay más seres en el universo además de nosotros, tiene que haberlos. Bueno, como verán, mis creencias son muy variadas y para todos los gustos. En otras publicaciones podría hablar de ellas específicamente.
What is your belief of terror?
This question is a broad one. I consider myself an open minded person, so I think that all myths, creatures, ghosts, spirits, souls in pain, UFOs and a long etc., really exist or existed because I feel that from somewhere came out so many stories and people who experienced paranormal events. Of course I don't believe that zombies exist, for example, but I don't rule out that at some point it will happen (for that I prepare myself by watching so many series about it hahaha). But anything paranormal, that I do choose to believe. I love reading about this kind of stories, watching documentaries, listening to testimonies about exorcism cases, cleaning houses with spirits or souls in pain that were stuck. I think that is what attracts my attention the most. Also the subject of witches is interesting to me and I do believe they exist, just not in the way people really think. Just like extraterrestrial life, I think there are more beings in the universe besides us, there has to be. Well, as you will see, my beliefs are very varied and for all tastes. In other publications I could talk about them specifically.
