El fin de semana pasamos un gran susto. Nuestro querido Sony comenzó a temblar, no quería comer y estaba tan susceptible con sus oídos que yo tenía que mantenerle las orejitas tapadas con mi mano, porque cualquier ruido por más mínimo que fuera lo aturdía.
Nos preguntábamos por qué estaba así;
él es un gato hogareño, no sale de casa porque está castrado. Pero de martes para miércoles se quedó en la calle, entonces el día jueves comenzó con unos síntomas extraños; primero no quería comer, estaba muy inquieto y tenía cierto desvanecimiento. Pensamos que tenía un leve malestar, pero el viernes ya los síntomas eran otros. Estaba temblando y no podía abrir los ojos, tenía las pupilas demasiado dilatadas.
We had a big scare over the weekend. Our beloved Sony started shaking, he didn't want to eat and was so sensitive with his ears that I had to keep my hand over his ears because any noise, no matter how small, would stun him.
We wondered why he was like that;
he is a house cat, he doesn't leave the house because he is neutered. But from Tuesday to Wednesday he stayed in the street, then on Thursday he started with some strange symptoms; first he didn't want to eat, he was very restless and had some fainting. We thought he had a slight malaise, but on Friday the symptoms were different. He was trembling and could not open his eyes, his pupils were too dilated.
Nosotros pensamos que como se quedó un día en la calle, quizás había comido algo que estaba envenenado. Hace mucho tiempo, también tuvimos una mala experiencia con un gatito y lo pudimos salvar cuando llegó envenenado. Le dimos café con una inyectadora, así que también lo hicimos con Sony, le dimos café y luego le dimos aceite tratando de que vomitara, para que se sintiera mejor.
We thought that because he was left in the street one day, maybe he had eaten something that was poisoned. A long time ago I also had a bad experience with a kitten and we were able to save him when he arrived poisoned. We gave him coffee with an injector, so we also did it with Sony, we gave him coffee and then we gave him oil trying to make him vomit so he would feel better.
Como lo veía temblando mucho, le di un acetaminofén de 500 mg por si acaso fuera fiebre. Sony mejoró un poquito el día jueves y estábamos contentos porque me daba mucho dolor verlo enfermito. Sin embargo, el día viernes comenzó otra vez con los síntomas. Como no quería comer, le dimos suero con una inyectadora para mantenerlo hidratado, se recuperó nuevamente un poquito, pero ya para el domingo estaba demasiado delgadito y el temblor era más fuerte así que tuvimos que llevarlo al veterinario.
As I saw him shaking a lot, I gave him a 500 mg acetaminophen in case it was a fever, Sony improved a little bit on Thursday and we were happy because it hurt me a lot to see him sick. However, on Friday he started with the symptoms again. As he didn't want to eat, we gave him serum with an injector to keep him hydrated, he recovered a little bit again, but by Sunday he was too thin and the trembling was stronger so we had to take him to the vet.
Pensando en qué era lo que le estaba pasando recordamos que ese mismo día martes, le habíamos colocado un medicamento para las pulgas. Él es muy peludo y yo en estos días lo cargué, lo revisé y me percaté de que tenía pulgas; entonces dije: "Tengo que comprarle a Sony un medicamento para las pulgas".
Mi hermano tenía un medicamento de pulgas y se lo colocó, pero el error fue que ese medicamento era para perros, cuando leímos acerca del medicamento nos percatamos de que entre los efectos colaterales que podría ocasionarle a un animalito, estaban todos los que estaba presentando Sony, así que mi hermano se sintió muy mal, se sintió culpable y dijo con mucha tristeza en su rostro: "Envenené a Sony" . Yo estaba muy angustiada; tanto por Sony como por mi hermano, porque a veces pasan cosas, no porque uno sea negligente, sino que no pensamos ni imaginamos que pudieran ocurrir.
Thinking about what was happening to him, we remembered that we had given him a flea medicine that same Tuesday. He is very hairy and these days I carried him, checked him and noticed that he had fleas, so I said: "I have to buy Sony a flea medicine".
My brother had a flea medicine and put it on him, but the mistake was that this medicine was for dogs, when we read about the medicine we realized that among the side effects that could cause a pet, were all those that Sony was presenting, so my brother felt very bad, he felt guilty and said with much sadness on his face: "I poisoned Sony". I was very distressed; both for Sony and for my brother, because sometimes things happen, not because one is negligent, but because we did not think or imagine that something bad could happen to him.
En ocasiones creemos que vamos a hacer algo bueno y termina siendo malo, pero de verdad la intención original era hacerle el bien al gatito, sin embargo, este medicamento como no era para gatos le cayó mal. Y eso que fue solo una gotita que se le echó arriba en la cabeza, pero como los gatos se acicalan mucho y se limpian ellos mismos con las paticas, entonces seguramente fue que Sony trató de limpiarse y luego se lamió la patica y se intoxicó.
We think we are going to do something good and it ends up being something bad, but the original intention was to do good to the kitten, however this medicine was not for cats, so it was bad for him. And that was just a drop that was poured on the top of his head, but as cats groom themselves a lot and clean themselves with their paws, then Sony probably tried to clean himself and then licked his paws and got intoxicated.
Fue muy triste y realmente angustioso verlo así. Al llevarlo al veterinario le contamos lo que había ocurrido y el veterinario enseguida le indicó desametasona y solución 09, como lo vio tan delicado con respecto a sus oídos, lo dejó hospitalizado desde el domingo hasta el lunes en la tarde. Cuando mi hermano fue a buscarlo ya tenía mejor semblante, ya caminaba, porque el medicamento de pulgas para perros le había dejado las patas traseras tiezas y la cola tampoco podía moverla bien, estaba muy rígido.
It was very sad and really distressing to see him like this. When we took him to the vet we told him what had happened and the vet immediately prescribed desamethasone and solution 09, as he saw him so delicate regarding his ears, he left him hospitalized from Sunday until Monday afternoon. When my brother went to pick him up he was looking better, he was already walking because the flea medicine for dogs had left his back legs stiff and his tail could not move well either, he was very stiff.
Realmente le afectó el sistema nervioso central y todo lo que tiene que ver con la parte motora también estaba afectada, así que el tratamiento se extendió hasta el día miércoles en la noche. Está flaquito, pero poco a poco recuperará su peso ideal.
It really affected his central nervous system and everything that has to do with the motor part was also affected, so the treatment was extended until Wednesday night. Of course he was hospitalized from Sunday to Monday, when they gave him to us, the vet indicated that we had to take him on Tuesday to give him another treatment and on Tuesday when we took him he told us that we also had to go on Wednesday, so we obeyed and thanks to God Sony is fine now. He is skinny, but little by little he will recover his ideal weight.
Amigos, nos tocó aprender una lección por las malas. Aunque Sony está vivo, realmente todo lo que sufrió esos días fueron momentos muy desagradables; tanto para él como para nosotros, por eso es importante que a los gato les demos comida, medicamento y champú de gatos, mientras que a los perros de perros. A veces creemos que por ser animales no les va a hacer daño, pero eso es un grave error y aunque estamos en un país en donde todo es muy costoso, debemos hacer lo posible por comprarle sus cosas necesarias, las que correspondan a su género.
Casi le cuesta la vida a Sony, el hecho de que hayamos cometido ese error. Por eso amigos, hagan todo lo posible por cuidar bien a sus mascotas, sobre todo tomando las medidas preventivas de acuerdo al género, incluso hasta la raza. Recuerden que ellas forman parte de la familia y que merecen que las tratemos con mucho cariño, amor, respeto y con mucha responsabilidad.
Friends we had to learn a lesson the hard way, although Sony is alive, really everything he suffered those days were very unpleasant moments, both for him and for us, so it is important that we give cats food, medicine and shampoo for cats, while dogs for dogs. Sometimes we believe that because they are animals it will not hurt them, but that is a serious mistake and although we are in a country where everything is very expensive, we must do our best to buy them their necessary things, those that correspond to their gender.
It almost cost Sony his life, the fact that we made that mistake. So friends, do everything possible to take good care of your pets, especially taking preventive measures according to gender, even down to the breed. Remember that they are part of the family and they deserve to be treated with much affection, love, respect and responsibility.
