Happy #caturday for all feline lovers, today as usual I come to share with you some experience or knowledge of something related to the kittens, about fifteen days ago I shared with you that I took the herd to deworm in two batches, since in the first visit I could not take them all, the vet noticed that two of them had gingivitis, so I will tell you today how has been the treatment of this pair which still does not end.

Years ago Pocholo was diagnosed with gingivitis, I came to believe that it was my fault, for feeding him poorly or whatever, but after studying a little more about this pathology in cats, I discovered that the Siamese breed has some kind of genetic predisposition to suffer it, and remembering, Pocholo since he was a puppy has had a terrible breath, which at first I attributed it to what he ate.

But after a visit to the vet, precisely because he stopped eating, something that alarmed me since he is literally gluttonous, he was diagnosed with gingivitis which has had to be treated several times throughout his almost 5 years.

Now, the smallest of the herd Rusa, although she is gray, is daughter of a Siamese cat and also suffers from gingivitis with the difference that Pocholo is attacked more by the area of the fangs and Rusa by the molars, the last time she was treated was in April, The last time she was treated was in April because she felt a terrible breath as if she had a decaying tooth and it turned out that she had gingivitis, in that opportunity she was prescribed Bucomorgyl, an antipotozoal suspension that is indicated for oral infections such as peri-odontitis, stomatitis, gingivitis, among others.

This treatment in Rusa, achieved a slight improvement in terms of odor, but did not disappear completely. So that day that I took the herd to deworm the vet told me that I had to treat Pocholo and Rusa, at home for 15 days, with a Topical Oral Solution called Peridont, which I have at home, first because besides being used as one of the treatments for gingivitis, it is also used for healing wounds, it is also used for the cure of wounds as it was with Señor Gato when he was operated or when Cristopher was treated for an abscess, so it is never missing at home, but even if I treat this pair for 15 days, as it was prescribed, the gingivitis is still active, and there is hardly any improvement and to complete the picture, in the case of Pocholo I noticed that he had cystitis.

So, without hesitation I called one of my trusted veterinarians that I have closer to home and told him the situation, I asked for his support to start the treatment protocol with Pocholo, they would only inject him and I would take the injectors and the treatment, But on Monday when I took him to be examined the vet thought it prudent to perform a hematology to see his values, and although it gave me a little fear, it turned out that my Pocholo is very well, the results of the hematology were excellent, the only recommendation was to change the current food for one with less amount of magnesium salts.

For Pocholo's treatment I bought an ampoule of Ampicillin Sulbactan for 6 $ and also to cancel the complete hematology that had a cost of 25 $, both things were canceled with my HIVE income, so today Pocholo is already on day 7 of the 12 days of treatment that the vet indicated, when I finish her treatment I will take Rusa to start her protocol and to make her feel more comfortable.

In summary, this pathology will bother this pair for life, ironically until they lose their teeth, besides it is contagious and that is why I got rid of two plastic containers, where I put water, because plastic accumulates more bacteria than other materials, so I must be attentive to their mouths because this causes them pain and discomfort to eat, so my recommendation is, if you have a kitten, do not self-medicate your pets, unless it suffers from a chronic disease, you know the treatment protocol and even then, before starting treatment, it is wise to weigh them and consult with your veterinarian, I say goodbye until a next publication full of little hairs and paws with pads smelling like cheese.

Hace ya años que a Pocholo se le diagnostico gingivitis, llegué a creer que la culpa era mía, por darle alimentación precaria o que se yo, pero tras estudiar un poco mas sobre esta patología en gatos, descubrí que la raza siamesa tiene alguna especie de predisposición genética a sufrirla, y recordando, Pocholo desde que era un cachorrito ha tenido un aliento terrible, el cual en un principio yo se lo atribuía a lo que comía.

Pero tras una visita al veterinario, precisamente porque dejo de comer, algo que me alarmo ya que él es literalmente glotón, fue que le diagnosticaron la gingivitis la cual ha tenido que ser atendida en varias oportunidades a lo largo de sus ya casi 5 años.

Ahora bien, la mas pequeña de la manada Rusa, aunque es de color gris, es hija de un gata siamesa y también sufre de gingivitis con la diferencia de que a Pocholo le ataca mas la zona de los colmillos y a Rusa las muelas, la última vez que se hizo tratamiento a ella, fue en abril ya que le sentía un aliento terrible como si tenía un diente en descomposición y resulto ser que tenía gingivitis, en esa oportunidad le recetaron Bucomorgyl una suspensión antirpotozoaria que esta indicada para Infecciones orales como peri-odontitis, estomatitis, gingivitis, entre otras.

Este tratamiento en Rusa, logro una mejora leve en cuanto al olor, pero no desapareció por completo. Así que ese día que lleve a desparasitar a la manada el veterinario me señalo que debía realizar tratamiento a Pocholo y Rusa, en casa por 15 días, con una Solución Tópica Bucal que tiene por nombre Peridont, del cual yo tengo en casa, primero porque además de usarse como uno de los tratamientos para gingivitis, también se utiliza para la cura de heridas como lo fue con Señor Gato cuando fue operado o cuando se le hacían las curas a Cristopher de un absceso, así que nunca falta en casa, pero aunque trate 15 días a este par, como lo habían recetado, la gingivitis sigue activa, y apenas se ve mejoria además de que para completar el cuadro, en el caso de Pocholo note que tenía cistitis.

Así, que sin dudarlo llame a uno de mis veterinarios de confianza al que tengo mas cerca de casa y le comente la situación, le solicite su apoyo para comenzar el protocolo de tratamiento con Pocholo, ellos solo lo inyectarían y yo llevaría las inyectadoras y el tratamiento, pero el lunes cuando lo lleve para que lo examinaran el veterinario creyó prudente realizarle una hematología para ver sus valores, y aunque me dio un poco de temor, resulto que mi Pocholo está muy bien, los resultados de la hematología fueron excelentes, la única recomendación fue cambiar el alimento actual por uno con menor cantidad de sales de magnesio.

Para el tratamiento de Pocholo adquirí una ampolla de Ampicilina Sulbactan por 6 $ y además cancelar la hematología completa que tuvo un costo de 25 $, ambas cosa se cancelaron con mis ingresos de HIVE, así ya el día de hoy Pocholo va por el día 7 de tratamiento de los 12 que el veterinario le indico, al terminar su tratamiento llevare a Rusa para comenzar también su protocolo y que se sienta mas cómoda.

En resumen, esta patología molestara de por vida a este par, irónicamente hasta que pierdan los dientes, además de que es contagiosa y por ello me deshice de dos envases de plástico, donde les colocaba agua, ya que el plástico acumula mas bacterias que otros materiales, así que debo estar atenta a sus boquitas pues esto les causa dolor e incomodidad para comer, así que mi recomendación es, si tienes un gatito, perrito o cualquier otro animal de compañía y notas algún cambio en su conducta, es prudente que visites el veterinario, pues podría estar pasando algo, no automediques a tus animales de compañía, a menos que sufra de una enfermedad crónica, conozcas el protocolo de tratamiento y aun así, antes de comenzar el tratamiento, es prudente pesarlos y consultar con su veterinario, me despido hasta una próxima publicación llena de pelitos y de patitas con almohadillas con olor a quesito.
