¿Acaso yo me he portado mal con ustedes?

(1 day old doe gazapos of replacement doe born)
In a previous post, I told you that a thief had broken into my farm and stolen one of the mother rabbits, and another one, who was pregnant, had been badly mistreated while trying to catch her, to the point that the next day she died.
From that moment on, I began a "Sherlock Holmes" style investigation, tying up loose ends and collecting information from some neighbors.
At the scene of the incident, I had observed the footprints of bare feet, the size of a foot that corresponds to a young boy between 10 and 12 years of age.
When I went to alert the neighbors of the possible danger that they and their yards were also in, a little girl, daughter of a nearby neighbor, told me that a couple of young boys had been hanging around in front of my house, and knocking on the door as if to make sure that no one was home.
Just about that time, my wife and I were in the middle of running errands in the center of town. By the time we arrived it was dark and I did not go out to check on the animals as I usually do.
It was the next morning when I saw that neither of the two rabbits were in the animal lot; when I set out to look for them and found the situation described at the beginning.
When the girl told me what had happened, I immediately remembered that a few weeks ago a boy who was passing by on the street approached me, asking me as a favor, a change of a rabbit because the one he had, apparently, was the brother of his females and he wanted to avoid inbreeding in his small breeding stock.
The characteristics that the girl described to me coincided with those of the youngster I just mentioned. She remarked that she knew them and even knew where they lived in the locality.
For my part, and to avoid being involved in the incident, I asked her not to mention anything about my suspicions. But she did not hold back when she sensed that they were responsible for the robbery and confronted them.
As expected, they refused, and in an attempt to dissuade my suspicions, they decided to visit me the next day to verify that everything was all right.
Upon arriving at my door, I decided to be firm in my investigation, and had to approach them directly to elicit any incriminating information, which was not very difficult, as they showed how nervous they were, and because they suspected that they had already been ratted out.
I asked them pointedly:
- "Why did you make the decision to steal from me, did I misbehave with you, what did you do with the doe you stole from me, did you sell it or did you eat it?"
To which the eldest, about 11 years old replied: - "no sir, it is in the house, but it was not me who stole it, it was another child".
I again told them conclusively:
- "The moment you tried to catch the other one you hit it didn't you, or did you drop it when you were trying to jump over the exit wall?"
To which he replied: - "no, I didn't hit it, it's just that in trying to catch it I had to run hard after it and I couldn't catch it. The other one I didn't drop because I carried a bag and put it in there so I could get out."
With those words he confirmed and pleaded guilty of theft.
When I confirmed my suspicions, I informed him that it was necessary for him to return my doe and to pay me for the one that had died pregnant.
In the end, he agreed to pay for the damages. I told him that it was necessary for us to go to the police station with his representative, for which he became very frightened, to the point that he went running to look for the doe that he had stolen from me, and the following day, he brought a doe with characteristics very similar to the one that died and in compensation for this one.
(Female that had been stolen from me, now recovered)
The next day after recovering her, the one that had been stolen from me gave birth to 7 small baby rabbits, and yesterday, 10 days after the incident, the one I brought in compensation gave birth to 10 rabbits.
All of them are in good health
I have not seen the boy again, although I have not stopped thinking about continuing the investigation and finding his parents to prevent him, in some way, from having a bad path.
But on my farm, things are getting better and better to make up for the losses of what happened.
And yesterday, I recorded the exact moment of the birth of this doe. I want you to see the beginning of a rabbit's life.
Someone might see the images as disgusting, but I see it as a very beautiful moment in nature. I hope most of you will agree with me.
