Pets – Tell us about any pets you have or you have had.
Pets....one of the greatest companion to man. Pets are generally animals, domesticated of course, kept for companionship or kept for pleasure. They are also affectionately cared or catered for. This distinguishes these class of animals from their wild counterpart.
Many people kept all kinds of animals as pets. But the most common ones are dogs (of various species), cats (of various species), feathered friends ( pigeons, peacocks, ostriches, fowl, turkeys, eagles, and many more), goats, and all that.
Over the years these class of animals known as pets have kept men companion especially those who live alone and in solitude or generally for pleasure.
For me, I have had two find pets which, when I remember them I only wish they had been around forever!
The first was a dog, an Alsatian dog nicknamed "Brown". Brown was indeed a fond dog to be with. While he was with me I enjoyed its companionship. He even knows when am sad ad he will whisk its tail, make some grinning sound as if it was sharing in my sorrow and sit very close to me with his eyes fixed on my face most times. I miss Brown really.
That was not enough. Brown also provide the needed security for me. Honestly, if it is not chained, no person wonders into my compound without a prior information that he or she will be coming. Otherwise, Brown will bark and even chase away such an uninvited guest. Except of course I am around and beckon on him to chill and he will calmly retreat but always keeping an eye on the person, assuming he turns violent afterwards. Sadly, Brown grew old and passed away on a very cold morning. I had tried to get a replica but to no avail really.
The next was a pigeon. It was a gift from a friend who had many. The pigeon is coloured black and white. I usually feed it with some sugar mixed in water. It knows when I normally put this in it's drinking spot. It does not miss this ration. It loves it so much that it knows I normally place it there for it three times daily... morning, afternoon and night. One day, the pigeon disappeared without a trace. I searched the whole neighbourhood for it all to no avail. The last sugar solution I kept for it in the afternoon remained there till evening and the next day. That was when I knew that all was not well.
Well, I enjoyed their presence and companionships while it lasted. Thanks for reading my blog.
