Green tree frogs are our elusively private little independent pets, preferring privacy and freedom in our garden to living in a terrarium. Sometimes they stay incognito, sometimes appear out of their hiding place to sit on pots and sometimes sit on the outside deck of our home at night time. Would you believe they even like to hop in the front door at night now and then? So far I have not found any in the washing tub or in one of the toilets.
But, whenever one comes out it is always a buzz to spot it calmly sitting in the garden, like this one was comfortably sitting on the Grecian pot the other day.
Entertaining is the word to use for this little green frog as he explored the surface of the pot. It made for creative photo taking.
Whether he was at a distance or close up!
Then later that night there was another green frog sitting on the deck with the friendliest smile on its face. I thought it was another one! Its shadow cast from the light was particularly cute.
In the morning surprisingly the same little green frog was still sitting on the deck. Eventually, he obviously decided to leave, it hopped onto the stones.
And with not a backward glance or goodbye slipped under the house for some cool dark peace and quiet solitude.
Hearing frogs croaking as well as seeing more of them them out and about this summer is probably due to this being an extra wet rainy season right now. It is always heartening to see them as there are also toads in the garden and toads are killing off our native frogs.
It may be a bit of a stretched and a little cheeky of me to publish this post under the tag of #hivepets, but in reality I do see them as pets living in the garden.
