When we lost our beloved pug, Moxie, oh...5 years ago, we thought it would be a long time before we could get another dog.
Instead, the universe threw us a 7-month old Boston Terrier that was surrendered to our local animal shelter.
He was trouble and came with a lot of baggage. The shelter would not adopt him out without a commitment to come back and take their obedience class.
We of course agreed.
It was a long road, but fast-forward to his upcoming 4th birthday, and he is still trouble. But now it's just your average every day dog 'trouble'.
He will play until he just can't even stand any more!
His eyes get red. He pants. When we stop tossing whatever toy he is retrieving, he flops on the floor in a pool of drool. It's quite a sight. Happy for no carpet in the house.
But now he has a sister. Freyja. She is our new pug and she's going to be 2 years old this month.
She's a big fan of food, or anything that could possibly be food, so she's always there. At your feet. Just in case you drop somthing.
They were not fast friends and Orbit often doesn't really like her too close to him, especially when he's tired.
But they have learned how to play with each other.
Though if you could hear them, you'd think we were running a dog fighting ring in our living room!
But sometimes they are too quiet and I come across some serious nonsense.
Orbit always looks the innocent one, but I don't always believe it. Freyja is certainly a trouble-maker in her own right, though!
Dogs....my life never feels as full without them.
