Today Joy decided to splash around in a muddy, little pond.
That's why I decided to participate with the photographs of it in the Photo Quest Competition Splash! by #qurator with the picture above.
It for sure wasn't easy to pick one, they all are splashy.
But I had to decide and in this one the splash comes out great with water flying and him just standing there splashing with his big paw.
Now a few words regarding dogs and water.
Bulldogs need to discover water on their own, they for sure are able to swim. Joy might learn it this year because he seems to enjoy water more and more.
You should
NEVER!
force your dog to swim.
They will do it on their own if they want to.
My passed Bulldog Molly hated water for the longest time.
Like Joy she just drowned at the beginning, so you always have to be at their side when they haven't learned swimming yet.
One day Molly just ran into a lake to grab a stick and out of nowhere she started swimming.
Ever since you couldn't get her out of the water and she swam like an Olympian.
As a studied Animal Psychologist I can only urge you to be patient when your dog doesn't like the water. He may never but if you make it fun for him he might start enjoying it.
If he is scared don't force, just live with it.
Joy didn't know water until he was 5 years of age. We adopted him at that time and I showed him the world. With a lot of patience and empathy, as well as expertise I managed to turn a scared, insecure dog into a curious, loving life one.
Now take a look at Joys pictures, taken with a smartphone.
Smile and treat your own pet like it is the most sacred thing on earth. They deserve it.
Round 1 - running into the pond
Round 2 - standing and splashing
Would you have chosen another picture for the competition? If so which one?
