For some time now, my city has been filled with Chinese stores, they sell everything and for all tastes. There are food stores, hygiene items stores, imitation jewelry and makeup stores, mini-supermarkets where you can get anything from a broom to household appliances, etc.
En la mayoría de estas tiendas hay un gato. Si bien los chinos consideran a los gatos de buena suerte, (recordemos el famoso gatito del Feng shui que mueve la mano) creo que el principal motivo para tenerlos en sus tiendas es para controlar a los ratones jajaja.
In most of these stores there is a cat. While the Chinese consider cats to be good luck (recall the famous feng shui kitten that waves its hand) I think the main reason to have them in their stores is to control mice hahaha.
Uno de esos chinos, es mi vecino, bueno, lo fue por muchos años porque hace unos meses, él y su familia se mudaron a una casa. Una de sus tiendas está en el centro comercial que da con mi edificio. Ahí está Gardel, el gato negro, le puse así porque en las noches que se queda afuera de la tienda, suele andar en el estacionamiento del edificio y en la casa abandonada que queda al lado y lo que hace es cantar jajaja, bueno, en realidad maúlla pero suena como si alguien estuviera cantando jajaja.
One of those Chinese is my neighbor, well, he was for many years because a few months ago, he and his family moved into a house. One of their stores is in the mall that fronts my building. There's Gardel, the black cat, I called him like that because on nights he stays outside the store, he usually hangs out in the parking lot of the building and in the abandoned house next door and what he does is sing hahaha, well, in actually meows but it sounds like someone is singing hahaha.
Gardel es un gato tranquilo, se deja acariciar y siempre tiene un semblante relajado. También tengo que decir que es el galán del barrio jajaja, de hecho, creo que es el único, aunque de vez en cuando tiene competencia.
Gardel is a pretty calm cat, he allows himself to be petted and always has a relaxed countenance. I also have to say that he is the beau of the neighborhood hahaha, in fact, I think he is the only one, although from time to time he has competition.
Él no viene mucho al edificio, la mayoría de las veces que anda por aquí es cuando hay alguna gata en celo, del resto se la pasa descansando en el mostrador de la tienda o alrededor del centro comercial, que por cierto, no es muy transitado y tiene un gran terreno en la parte de atrás donde muchas veces lo veo desde mi balcón caminando por los muros o jugando y durmiendo por ahí.
He doesn't come to the building much, most of the time he comes it's when there's a cat in heat, the rest he spends resting at the counter of the store or around the mall, which by the way, isn't very crowded and it has a large piece of land in the back where I often see him from my balcony walking along the walls or playing and sleeping around.
Hace unos meses, lo ví durmiendo en el muro del estacionamiento y como tenía que bajar, me llevé el teléfono para tomarle unas fotos y acariciarlo. Cuando me acerqué noté que tenía una gran cicatriz en el lado derecho de la cara, pensé en subir a buscar la crema cicatrizante pero luego de mirar bien me dí cuenta que no era tan reciente porque ya había cicatrizado bastante y se veía seca. El ojo derecho estaba un poco hacia abajo, supongo que por el mismo proceso de cicatrización que estiró la piel.
A few months ago, I saw him sleeping on the wall in the parking lot and since I had to go down to the parking lot, I took my phone to take some photos and pet him. When I got closer I noticed that he had a big scar on the right side of his face, I thought about going upstairs to get the healing cream but after looking closely I realized that it wasn't that recent because it had already healed quite a bit and it looked dry. The right eye was down a bit, I guess from the same healing process that stretched the skin.

Hace poco volví a verlo cerca de aquí, esta vez sobre uno de los techos de la casa abandonada que está al lado de mi edificio, estaba sentado de lo más tranquilo entre la densa vegetación que se ha apoderado del entorno, disfrutando de la vista y su hermoso pelaje negro resaltaba entre el verde de las hojas. Le tomé estas lindas fotos.
I recently saw him again near here, this time on one of the roofs of the abandoned house that is next to my building, he was sitting peacefully among the dense vegetation that has taken over the environment, enjoying the view, and his beautiful black fur stood out among the green of the leaves. I took these nice photos of him.
Ahora Cara Cortada Gardel anda cojeando un poco de una de las patas de atrás, seguramente, y al igual que la cortada en la cara, debe ser consecuencia de alguna pelea con otro gato 🤦🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️, pero del resto se ve bien. Gardel es un duro y nada lo detiene cuando escucha los maullidos de alguna hermosa gatita jajaja.
Now Scarface Gardel is limping a little on one of his back legs, surely, and like the cut on his face, it must be the result of some fight with another cat 🤦🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️ but the rest looks fine. Gardel is tough and nothing stops him when he hears the meows of some beautiful cat hahaha.
