Un nuevo hogar para los Morrocoyes (Chelonoidis carbonarius)
Hola hivers.
Me complace saludarles y compartir un nuevo Post sobre nuestras mascotas, esta vez los mas silenciosos, los Morrocoyes o tortugas terrestres.
Una de las principales cosas que debemos tener presente antes de adoptar una mascota es el espacio que disponemos en nuestra casa para que puedan vivir cómodamente, recordemos que no debemos tener prisioneros sino compañeros.
Esta es la razón que llevó a la Sra. Migdalia a buscar un nuevo hogar para sus 4 Morrocoyes.
No fue una decisión sencilla, puesto que el más grande tenía más de 30 años con ella, su pareja tenía poco un menos, pero aún así al ser parte de la familia no era fácil dejarlos ir.
Las otras dos son hembras, una de ellas es hija de la pareja, esa requiere de atención especial ya que tiene un defecto en las patitas, la otra apareció un día en la urbanización y aún cuando se notificó se quedó en la casa, nunca dejó de ser "caminadora" jejeje.
Estos animalitos han acompañado a la famila en varias casas en las que contaban con un patio amplio para vivir hasta que adquirieron una en la que el patio no es grande pero allí permanecían cómodos.
Sin embargo, en el mes de diciembre se realizó un trabajo de modificación de la infraestructura en la que se colocó concreto en casi toda la superficie, de manera que los marrocoyes fueron trasladados al jardín delantero en un espacio muy reducido, donde además estaban expuestos, ya de hecho la "caminadora" había escapado varias veces y podían perderse en cualquier momento, es por esto que decidieron buscar una solución con el propósito de mejorar la calidad de vida de esos viejos y fieles compañeros de tantos años.
Buscarles un nuevo hogar no fue tarea fácil tomando en cuenta que debían ser recibidos por personas sensibles a los animales, con una casa con patio amplio cercado y además que fueran de confianza para asegurar que no los sacrifiquen para comerlos.
En esta búsqueda la Sra. Migdalia y Gaspar decidieron regarlos a la Sra. Fanny Querales, una amiga de la comunidad que no sólo cumple con el perfil, sino también vive con niños que estarían felices de atenderlos y adoptarlos como sus mascotas.
Una vez establecido el acuerdo decidimos llevarlos a su nuevo hogar, fue realmente emocionante verlos hacer un reconocimiento del lugar, el más grande y la caminadora empezaron a recorrer el espacio y a comer de inmediato, los otros al cabo de un rato se internaron entre unas plantas.
Los niños los recibieron muy contentos, buscaron envases para darles agua, también les colocaron cambur y estaban atentos a cada movimiento.
Allí en su nuevo hogar tienen a su disposición un espacio super amplio, fresco, sombreado por árboles y con variedad de plantas, también lugares con hojarasca donde pueden internarse, en fin un hogar donde pueden sentirse con mayor libertad.
En un principio temía que Amanda entristeciera o se reusara a dejarlos pero no fue así, ella comprendió la situación y los dejó confiada de que es lo mejor para ellos.
Cada vez que tenemos posibilidad vamos a visitarlos, ahora el grande se llama Leonardo y la más pequeña Patichú, se les ve muy bien, están siendo atendidos con amor y dedicación.
Hoy nos sentimos felices y agradecidos con la Sra. Fanny, sabemos que ellos tienen un mejor hogar, una mejor calidad de vida y el cariño de las personas que los acompañan.
Esta experiencia me ha enseñado sobre el desprendimiento, aprendí que el amor a los seres vivos inicia colocando su bienestar por encima de nuestro apego porque en realidad no son nuestros, son de si mismos, de la naturaleza y es nuestro deber cuidar de ellos.
Una vez más ha sido un placer compartir esta bonita experiencia con todos.

A new home for the Morrocoyes (Chelonoidis carbonarius)

I am pleased to greet you and share a new Post about our pets, this time the most silent, the Morrocoyes or land tortoises.
One of the main things to keep in mind before adopting a pet is the space we have in our house for them to live comfortably, remember that we should not have prisoners but companions.
This is the reason that led Mrs. Migdalia to look for a new home for her 4 Morrocoyes.
It was not an easy decision, since the biggest one had more than 30 years with her, her partner had a little less, but still being part of the family it was not easy to let them go.
The other two are females, one of them is the daughter of the couple, that one requires special attention since she has a defect in her paws, the other one appeared one day in the urbanization and even when she was notified she stayed in the house, she never stopped being a "walker" hehehehe.
These animals have accompanied the family in several houses in which they had a large yard to live in until they acquired one in which the yard is not large but there they remained comfortable.
However, in the month of December a work of modification of the infrastructure was carried out in which concrete was placed on almost the entire surface, so that the marrocoyes were moved to the front garden in a very small space, where they were also exposed, and in fact the "walker" had escaped several times and could get lost at any time, which is why they decided to seek a solution in order to improve the quality of life of these old and faithful companions of so many years.
Finding them a new home was not an easy task taking into account that they had to be received by people sensitive to animals, with a house with a large fenced yard and also that they were trustworthy to ensure that they would not be sacrificed to eat them.
In this search, Mrs. Migdalia and Gaspar decided to give them to Mrs. Fanny Querales, a friend of the community who not only meets the profile, but also lives with children who would be happy to take care of them and adopt them as their pets.
Once the agreement was established we decided to take them to their new home, it was really exciting to see them doing a reconnaissance of the place, the biggest one and the walker started to walk around the space and eat immediately, the others after a while went into some plants.
The children were very happy to receive them, they looked for containers to give them water, they also put cambur and were attentive to every movement.
There in their new home they have at their disposal a super spacious, fresh space, shaded by trees and with a variety of plants, also places with leaf litter where they can go inside, in short, a home where they can feel more free.
At first I was afraid that Amanda would be sad or reluctant to leave them but she understood the situation and left them confident that it is the best for them.
Every time we have the possibility we go to visit them, now the big one is called Leonardo and the smallest Patichú, they look very well, they are being taken care of with love and dedication.
Today we feel happy and grateful to Mrs. Fanny, we know that they have a better home, a better quality of life and the affection of the people who accompany them.
This experience has taught me about detachment, I learned that love for living beings starts by placing their well-being above our attachment because in reality they are not ours, they belong to themselves, to nature and it is our duty to take care of them.
Once again it has been a pleasure to share this beautiful experience with everyone.
