Hello, Hive Family, especially to Community and to all pet lovers all over the world!
Rainy afternoons usually calm us into naps and quiet moments, but for my Chow Chow, Cardo, today was a puzzling exception. After lunch, while the rain tapped gently on the roof, Cardo seemed unusually restless. He wasn’t barking or whining, just roaming. From the door to the kitchen, then to the sala, and back again. He’d lie down for a few minutes, then get up and wander once more.
I watched him closely. Was he anxious? Uncomfortable? Searching for a better spot? It was cool enough that I hadn’t turned on the aircon, thinking the natural breeze would be enough. But Cardo’s behavior told me otherwise.
He tried sleeping near the door, no luck. Then in the kitchen, still no peace. His pacing continued, and I could tell he was tired but couldn’t settle. That’s when I decided to test a theory: maybe the aircon’s steady hum and cooler air would help.
And just like that, the mystery was solved. As soon as the aircon came on, Cardo found his spot, curled up, and drifted into a deep, uninterrupted sleep; no more wandering, no more shifting, just the soft snores of a fur baby finally at ease.
This little episode reminded me how attuned our pets are to their surroundings. What feels “fine” to us might be unsettling for them. Whether it’s the humidity, the ambient noise, or even the scent of rain, their comfort zones are unique and worth paying attention to.
More than just a pet, Cardo has been one of my greatest emotional supports during my healing journey. Since the passing of my father last July, his presence has brought me quiet strength and comfort in ways words can’t fully express. On days when the grief feels heavy, Cardo’s gentle companionship reminds me that love still surrounds me, in soft fur, warm eyes, and loyal footsteps.
So from now on, rainy afternoons will come with a new routine: a cozy blanket, a quiet room, and yes, the aircon humming in the background. Because if it means Cardo sleeps soundly, it’s a small price to pay for his peace and mine.
Thank you for taking the time to read about Cardo’s little rainy day adventure. Sharing these moments helps me heal, and I hope it brings a smile to your day, too. If your pets have been your emotional anchors as well, I’d love to hear your stories. Let’s keep supporting each other in this beautiful Hive Pets community.
