A Day at the Vet - Cici got sick

On my way upstairs this morning, I saw Cici looked really dejected. It was as if something was on her mind and her left eye was quite watery. While her eating habits did not change, she was moving around as if something truly bothered her. I told my mom that we needed to get her checked soon and eventually around 11 AM as soon as the vet opened, we brought her to the nearest Vet.

Her children were around the pet cargo as she was about to be sent to the Vet. One of the kittens even tried to insert her paws and reached Cici who was already inside the pet carrier. Strangely, she didn't even move. She was completely calm and as if she understood that we're sending her for extra care.

The weather has been pretty awful lately. It's like there's a shift after extreme heat to something around 76F or 78 F daily. While it's pretty chilly, the sudden shift seems to be stressing out these fur babies.

Thankfully, because the vet is near, we just walked there and not long, she was already looked after. The veterinarian was really communicative and helpful. She explained that Cici might have diarrhea and an upcoming flu if left untreated. At the same time, she has this ear mites condition that could cause more injury if left untreated. We only brought her a couple of times and the Vet has a comprehensive database of Cici. It's really nice that this clinic I went to really cares about the patient and its history.

My mom was pretty much opposed to sending Cici to the vet. I could understand where she was coming from. In the past, when people had cats, they didn't send them to the vet and didn't care about their extra well-being. All people used to know was to feed them well and that wasn't even pet food. When they are sick, they are given mostly natural remedies and people would hope their cat would magically heal. So,I was trying to give her awareness that time has changed and veterinarians are much more affordable. Although to her, the cost wasn't really justifiable since typically Vet are much more expensive here. She would keep talking about it on our way back home after I paid the bills. I got a little annoyed and it ruined my day. But at the same time, she was pretty much attentive towards the vet instructions and what not to do. In the end, I told her that she shouldn’t complain since she wasn’t the one paying.

Inside the room, Cici was given two shots and a few medications to take home. While she was trying to flee during the treatment, she didn’t bite any of us. Then, after a while she was back to the cheerful cat I used to know. I hope that she will get better soon so we can vaccinate her because the Vet told us to wait until mid July and only after she’s done with her medication to be vaccinated and even neutered.

The clinic that we went to is pretty much affordable compared to the previous one I went to. The vet was really nice and was very upfront about the costs and options. Though I was already nervous about the cost, I was just glad it came out quite reasonable. On my receipt, I was also given a list of the service and costs. Maybe because the one I went to is close to the market, so they make it slightly more affordable compared to the previous place which its location itself was pretty much screams premium and expensive. I would not hesitate going back since I typically can estimate how much things cost and it doesn’t feel like a rip off.
