Some loves are part of life and as such, have an important place in our hearts. A preferential place, full of genuine and special affection, unconditional love, that makes one consider them essential in our existence.

There is no more unconditional love in the world than that of a pet, and in this case, I am referring to dogs. They are animals faithful to the unthinkable and capable of giving love without demanding absolutely anything. This is what I call total unconditionality. When we own a pet, it completely changes our life for the better.

They are part of our family. That's what happens to me with Trueno José, my little dog. Known in Hive for some posts I have made on my blog. Trueno José is more than a pet, he is like a son to me, and as such, he has a very nice place in my heart. Those who know him, know that I have raised him since he was only one month old when he was given to me as a gift.

Since then, I have given him all my motherly love and now, at eight years of age, he is a full-grown dog and I continue to take care of him, hoping that he will last many years of his life by my side. One wishes they could last forever and that they could always be with us. That is why, when they get sick, we must always try to give them the proper care to recover their health.

I always try to give them attention, to the extent of my possibilities, to everything related to their feeding and health care. Some time ago, Trueno José had a hard lump on his back, which seemed to be something superficial on the skin, because, when I touched it and put pressure on it, he did not show any pain.

Hay amores que son parte de la vida y como tal, tienen un lugar importante en nuestro corazón. Un lugar preferencial, lleno de afecto genuino y especial, amor incondicional, que hace que uno los considere esenciales en nuestro existir.

No existe en el mundo un amor más incondicional que el de una mascota, y en este caso, me refiero a los perros. Son animales fieles hasta lo impensable y capaces de dar amor sin exigir absolutamente nada. A esto lo llamo total incondicionalidad. Cuando somos dueños de una mascota, cambia por completo nuestra vida para bien.

Son parte de nuestra familia. Tal cual me sucede con Trueno José, mi perrito. Conocido en Hive por algunas publicaciones que he realizado desde mi blog. Trueno José es más que una mascota, es como un hijo para mí, y como tal, tiene un lugar muy bonito en mi corazón. Quienes lo conocen, saben que lo he criado desde que tenía tan solo un mes de nacido, época en la que me lo regalaron.

Desde entonces, le he dado todo mi amor de madre y ya, a sus ocho años de edad perruna, es todo un adulto y lo sigo cuidando, con la esperanza de que dure muchísimos años de su vida a mi lado. Uno quisiera que fuesen eternos y que siempre pudieran estar con nosotros. Por ello, cuando se enferman, siempre debemos tratar de darle los cuidados adecuados para recuperar su salud.

Siempre procuro darle atención, en la medida de mis posibilidades, en todo lo que se refiere a su alimentación y cuidados de salud. Hace algún tiempo, Trueno José venía presentando en la parte de su lomo, una protuberancia de consistencia dura, que parecía ser algo superficial en la piel, pues, al tocarlo y hacerle presión, él no manifestaba dolor alguno.

However, I noticed that it was growing in size, and although Trueno José did not complain of pain, the protuberance was already at an exaggerated size. One day, at the beginning of the month, I noticed that it was broken and had something like a wound there.

This type of laceration is dangerous because mosquitoes or flies attracted by the blood can land there and deposit their eggs, causing a larva to grow and infect the wound. In most cases, a larva is formed that turns into a worm and burrows into the skin, producing holes that can generate severe infections.

Something like this began to happen to Trueno José in the wound of the protuberance. Even though I began to clean it daily so that flies and mosquitoes would not land on it, the skin opened up and excavation began to form. That's when I called our trusted veterinarian (Dr. Leiva) and he came to examine my Trueno at the house.

Dr. Leiva has been checking on Trueno Jose since he was given to me as a gift when he was a month old and of course, has seen his evolution throughout his doggy life. He has always told me that he is a very healthy and beautiful dog because of the good care I have given him throughout his life.

It is worth remembering that in my country, life has become very expensive and many people have given away or abandoned their pets for not being able to keep or feed them. In my case, I have always done everything possible so that Trueno José is guaranteed decent food and care.

Sin embargo, me di cuenta de que estaba creciendo de tamaño, y si bien Trueno José no se quejaba de dolor, ya estaba en un tamaño exagerado dicha protuberancia. Un día, a comienzos de mes, noté que estaba rota y tenía allí algo así como una herida.

Este tipo de laceraciones son peligrosas pues, allí pueden posarse mosquitos o moscas atraídas por la sangre, y depositar sus huevos, haciendo que pueda crecer una larva e infectar la herida. En la mayoría de los casos, se forma una larva que se convierte en gusano y que va excavando la piel, produciendo agujeros que pueden generar infecciones severas.

Algo así comenzó a ocurrirle a Trueno José en la herida de la protuberancia. A pesar de que comencé a limpiarla diariamente para que no se posaran las moscas o mosquitos, se abrió la piel y comenzó a formarse una excavación. Fue allí cuando llamé a nuestro veterinario de confianza (el doctor Leiva) y vino a examinar a mi Trueno en la casa.

El doctor Leiva controla a Trueno José desde que me lo regalaron al mes de nacido y por supuesto, ha visto su evolución a lo largo de su vida perruna. Siempre me ha dicho que es un perro muy sano y muy hermoso por los buenos cuidados que le he dado a lo largo de su vida.

Vale la pena recordar que en mi país, la vida se ha vuelto muy costosa y que, muchas personas han regalado o abandonado a sus mascotas por no poderlas mantener o alimentar. En mi caso, siempre he hecho todo lo posible porque Trueno José tenga garantizada una alimentación decente y sus cuidados.

Dr. Leiva checked Trueno and told me that the protuberance was an external skin tumor and that he had to be operated on immediately, to prevent it from continuing to grow and to avoid wounds that could always cause this type of problem.

We decided on a later date (about two weeks later) and Dr. Leiva came to operate on Trueno José to remove the aforementioned lump on October 27th of last year. That day, the operation was performed in the morning and the doctor told me that we had to tie Trueno and place a kind of muzzle on his trunk, while he did the sedation to remove the tumor.

So we did it, I was supporting him in holding Trueno while he was falling asleep and I was also attentive to what he was doing. Trueno was sedated by placing an injection in his front paw and there he collapsed, very sedated, ready to have the tumor removed. Dr. Leiva was very professional and skillful in his intervention which lasted approximately two hours, and I must highlight his dedication and care as a veterinarian and the love he has for Trueno. Truly, is a great professional in his field.

I will not post photos of the operation itself, because I think they are not appropriate or timely to be publishing them because of the content of blood, unpleasant to the eye. Neither photos of the wound because, as I already said, I do not think it is appropriate to place this type of image in a publication.

Trueno was well sedated and the doctor completed the removal of the tumor which, thank God, was superficial (as the doctor had diagnosed) and did not compromise at any time, nothing beyond what was foreseen. They sutured the wound nicely and he lasted a while longer asleep during the day. Thank God, he is a very calm dog and behaves wonderfully, even on this kind of difficult occasion.

El Dr. Leiva revisó a Trueno y me comunicó que la protuberancia, era una tumoración externa de piel y que había que intervenirlo quirúrgicamente de inmediato, para evitar que siguiera creciendo y pudieran ocurrir siempre heridas que causaran este tipo de problemas.

Decidimos una fecha posterior (como dos semanas después) y el Dr. Leiva vino a operar a Trueno José para extraerle la tumoración mencionada el día 27 de octubre del año pasado. Ese día, la operación se realizó en la mañana y el doctor me dijo que debíamos amarrar a Trueno y colocarle una especie de bozal en la trompa, mientras él hacía la sedación para extraer la tumoración.

Así lo hicimos, yo estuve apoyándolo en agarrar a Trueno mientras se dormía y pues, también atenta a lo que él estaba realizando. Trueno fue sedado colocándole una inyección en su patita delantera y allí cayó desplomado, muy sedado, listo para realizarle la extracción del tumor. El Dr. Leiva fue muy profesional y diestro en su intervención que duró aproximadamente dos horas, y debo resaltar su dedicación y esmero como veterinario y el cariño que le tiene a Trueno. De verdad, un gran profesional en su rama.

No colocaré fotos de la intervención en sí, pues, me parece que no son adecuadas ni oportunas para estarlas publicando por el contenido de sangre, desagradable a la visual. Tampoco fotos de la herida pues, como ya les dije, no me parece bien que haya que colocar este tipo de imágenes en una publicación.

Trueno estuvo bien sedado y el doctor completó la extracción de la tumoración que, gracias a Dios, era superficial (como había diagnosticado el doctor) y no comprometió en ningún momento, nada más allá de lo previsto. Le suturaron la herida muy bien y duró un tiempo más dormido en el día. Gracias a Dios, él es un perro muy tranquilo y de verdad que se porta a las mil maravillas, incluso en este tipo de ocasiones dificultosas.

The doctor prescribed treatment and care for the wound. Oral antibiotic (Floxanid, to avoid infection), analgesic, and anti-inflammatory (nimesulide) to relieve pain and reduce inflammation. Both are in veterinary type presentation. I also had to clean the wound twice a day with Gerdex, to avoid infection.

In addition, I had to take extra care, putting a flannel on Trueno, to prevent him from scratching the wound and tearing the surgical stitches, and of course, keeping a close eye on him. Thank God, he is not restless and well, even so, some stitches came loose and had to be sutured again. It was quite an exhausting month, but it was worth it because, after reinforcing the stitches, the wound healed satisfactorily, as it should have.

This intervention was somewhat costly, from the time of the initial diagnosis to the intervention and the postoperative treatment. The whole cost was around $120, which was well worth it since we were able to recover Trueno José's health in its entirety.

I feel very happy and grateful to have Trueno José in my life. Taking care of him is a pleasure and a great joy and any sacrifice of any kind is worth it to have him healthy and happy and to enjoy his love and affection. El doctor le indicó tratamiento y cuidados en la herida. Antibiótico vía oral (Floxanid, para evitar una infección), analgésico y antiinflamatorio (nimesulide) para aliviar el dolor y desinflamar. Ambos en presentación tipo veterinaria. También había que limpiar la herida dos veces al día con Gerdex, para evitar infecciones.

Además, tuve que tomar cuidados extras, colocándole una franela a Trueno, para evitar que se rascara la herida y desgarrara los puntos quirúrgicos y por supuesto, vigilarlo muchísimo. Gracias a Dios, él no es inquieto y bueno, aun así, se soltaron unos puntos y hubo que volver a suturar. Fue un mes bastante agotador, pero valió la pena pues, después de reforzar los puntos, la herida sanó de forma satisfactoria, como debía ser.

Fue algo costosa esta intervención, desde el momento del diagnóstico inicial, hasta la intervención y el tratamiento postoperatorio. Todo el costo resultó alrededor de 120 $, que bien valió la pena, pues logramos recuperar, en su totalidad, la salud de Trueno José.

Me siento muy feliz y agradecida de tener a Trueno José en mi vida. Cuidarlo es un placer y una gran alegría y, cualquier sacrificio de la índole que sea, bien vale la pena por tenerlo sano y feliz y disfrutar de su amor y sus muestras de afecto.
